Incubator:Administrators/Archive/Test adminship 2012

Hi All, I want to apply for adminship on incubator Hindi Wikinews project. Currently this project is in incubator and probably there are no users to contribute on it. So to protect it from vandalism and to make it more active so that the project ultimately becomes a separate project I need adminship. I am already an admin on Hindi wikipedia so there should not be any doubt on my Hindi language skills and my adminship. My Hi wiki user page is here रोहित रावत 17:05, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

You seem to be the only one there, and there is rarely any vandalism here. What is there that the current administrators couldn't do? Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 20:49, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
Currently there are no admins there. Also if I become admin I can install various tools which are needed to create articles in Hindi. An admin can delete pages, can rerename pages, can rename categories etc which a normal user can't. Okay there might not be any vandalism there but it is not gauranteed that there will beno vandalism. There is no vandalism because the incubator project was inactive from the last 3 years or so. So I hope I've answered all your queries. If you are still doubtful you can further put your queries and I'll be happy to answer. रोहित रावत 16:52, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Installing various tools... do you mean gadgets. I was not talking about test-sysops but sysops listed here that can act on any test. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 01:36, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Sir, please continue my test-adminship for wp/khw which is going to expire on January 22nd. I want to plan to stay active in the project, therefore I am re-applying for adminship on incubator Khowar Wikipedia project. Rehmat Aziz Chitrali 05:21, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

The policy states to request after the rights have expired. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 10:49, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Good day, I would like to request test-adminship on the Wikipedia project in Mi'kmaq (mic). I'm already an administrator on the Wikipedia in Cree (cr) if you need to see some references and I'm mainly involved in the Wikipedia in French (fr). It is mainly to be able to delete pages created by mistake or useless redirect without creating any more burden on the actual Incubator's administrators. Amqui 17:03, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 22:21, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
Merci, Amqui 19:57, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
I honestly don't see a great problem here, as it's not important if a test has a lot of stub or not when discussing giving test-adminship. It is rather important if it would be useful for the requesting user and Incubator admins, as the user could then do housekeeping deletions etc. by him/herself. --MF-W {a, b} 23:36, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 02:06, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Amqui 14:32, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
--MF-W {a, b} 16:24, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Having admin tools would also let me merge pages on the same subject that different people create with a different spelling. Amqui 19:58, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Merging does not require admin rights. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 02:06, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
I'd like you to show me how to do it then. Please, Amqui 02:27, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
So you may copy-paste, but state the main contributor(s). Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 10:27, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
That's work when one page is pretty empty, but if both are developed, it is preferable to merge pages' history as well in order to keep track of the authors and comply with the license. Amqui 14:28, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Absolutly, but as the pages are small (and you're the only contributor, then history-merge is not needed. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 10:46, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
I'm not the only contributor, we are two already and more are coming. Amqui 14:06, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

  Fine. Test-adminship granted. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 19:56, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Can you please renew my test adminship for another year. Girmitya 23:40, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

with pleasure,   Done - However I'd like to recommend you to do translation work (or ask in hif.wikipedia for volunteers) on the interface, which is a requirement for the approval of wt/hif so that it could become a full wiki [1] [2]. --MF-W {a, b} 21:18, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to become test admin on the dutch wikinews test wiki, because I think it's a project with verry much potential, but with verry less activity. And I think that it is possible to get it active again. Janthiemen 07:24, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions to this wiki! I would like to point out that you just started editing on 3rd February 2012, and you are requesting for test adminship. There is no requirements for length of time of activity, but it would bring about concern regarding your experience here on the Wikimedia Incubator. --Hydriz 14:29, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Please don't forget to mention which is your test wiki. Also, please note that being a test-admin doesn't give you any special authority, for example about the content or so. --MF-W {a, b} 20:07, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Cekli829 (wq/tt)

  • I would like to apply to be a test-admin in Wq/tt. Best regards, --Cekli829 (talk) 12:23, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
    Why? Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 20:37, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for your consideration! Because, a test administrator is an active contributor to a test here on Incubator who was given rights to take care of that test. --Cekli829 (talk) 03:41, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
According to Special:UserRights/Cekli829 you are a test-admin already... --OWTB (talk) 14:52, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
    I am test-admin wn/az... --Cekli829 (talk) 12:29, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
I don't know whether you have to reapply for that. When I was still test-admin I simply used the tools on all the tests I collaborate if necessary. According to the text above it says: "they may only use their tools on pages/users in their own test". It's rather vague, it doesn't say "in the test one is elected" or something. Wq/tt seems to be one of your tests, so in my opinion re-election is not necessary. --OWTB (talk) 13:56, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
As test-adminship is given for (a) specific wiki/s, I think it's good if a test-admin who wants to become test-admin for another test too makes a request here. We can close this as done and add wq/tt to the list for Cekli, if nobody objects. --MF-W {a, b} 14:07, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
I do believe that the current process doesn't really involve the test contributors (they aren't even informed using Talk:Wq/tt or something alike). It might be a good idea to change that for future applications. --OWTB (talk) 16:51, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
    A good idea, as test contributors rarely ever comment test-adminship requests. --MF-W {a, b} 17:23, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I know that. What I was asking is why you want these rights. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 09:39, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Amqui (wp/shh)

A test-sysop on shh is not needed right now, but, since I already have test-sysop admin rights on another test-wiki, I may use the tools by reflex if I need to perform a quick delete or something like that, so I prefer asking for test-adminship on wp/shh as well ahead of time. Thanks you, Amqui (talk) 03:06, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

This is not needed, but the 5 days could go by and I add Wp/shh to you. You may already use the tools there. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 17:13, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Btw, our policy says "Users are given 5 days to place comments. After this period, requests will be reviewed by a bureaucrat (...)" So maybe better to wait a few more days in future requests :-) SPQRobin (talk) 20:24, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Mathonius (wn/nl)

I'm interested in reviving the Dutch Wikinews. A problem, apart from the lack of activity, are the copyright violations on this project, which already was a problem when nl.wikinews wasn't closed down yet. Being a test admin would make it easier and more efficient for me to clean this up. I also expect to use this test adminship to do general maintenance on wn/nl. I have experience as a global sysop and as an admin on nl.wikipedia, en.wikiversity, meta and commons (see sulutil:Mathonius for more information). Mathonius (talk) 02:50, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Would support this request. User is somewhat active on the test-wiki, and is trusted globally with sysop rights (although in such instances having global rights does not mean anything) --Hydriz (talk) 13:04, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

I want to request for test adminship in Votic Wikipedia. First, I can speak Votic and I'm ready to be helpful here (I did 140 edits to time; have translator's rights on TranslateWiki...). Secondly, I want to clean up and correct the orthography (it can be hard to do it without admin-rights). Best regards,--Päivüd (talk) 20:20, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi, one question: In which cases do you need test-admin rights for correcting the orthography? Thanks --MF-W {a, b} 14:26, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
For example, this category has incorrect name. I could delete it and create a new category with right name... Of course, in other cases admin-rights won't need for simple fixes.--Päivüd (talk) 15:02, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Very well. One note: You can already now - before your test-adminship will be granted - request such fixes from administrators on I:Administrators' noticeboard. --MF-W {a, b} 15:30, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Mathonius (Wn/nl) - removal

I've finished deleting the copyright violations on Wn/nl. I don't think I will be spending much more time on this test project, because there aren't any other contributors, creating new content takes a lot of time compared to the Wikipedia and Wiktionary projects, and there's little motivation to try to revive the Dutch Wikinews. I probably won't be needing this test adminship anymore, so please remove it. Thanks, Mathonius (talk) 23:56, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

My request is also Spanish Wikivoyage. I've been working there under the correction of errors and others, as well as I have been helpful for new users who want to participate. I also have experience in maintenance. A greeting. White Master ( 17:36, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

I request it for Inner Mongolian Wikipedia. I know the Traditional Mongolian alphabet. I am the administrator of the Buryat Wikipedia. I work here and created a few articles. I will translate the text from the Mongolian wikipedia and keep order. Thank you.--Gubin (яриа) 16:16, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
