Kirmanjki

edit

Hello, i would like to ask you why do you delete redirects of real kirmanjki alphabet? Look at http://www.zazaki.net/haber/alfabeya-kurdk-76.htm please.--Gomada 21:45, 11 october 2011 (UTC)

There was a request for those pages to be deleted. But, I could undelete them if you want, as the proposer did not specify the delete reason properly. --Hydriz 02:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Undelete please, you are an administrator here. How can you delete so easily? You should know the reason. Btw, if i am not wrong , Mirzali wanted you to delete. If you wanna take a look at Zazaki wikipedia. He treats as a Tyrant there. He is the only user in Zazaki wikipedia now. Because , i dont know how, somebody has made him admin and he blocks people to write in zazaki. He wants zaza(kirmanj/dimili) poeple to write articles as he wants. Why? He is the dictator or what? There are millions of zaza (kirmanj, dimili) people, why they have to listen some turkish-minded tyrant? He tries to make zaza and kirmanjki wikipedias/alphabets as turkish style. He is a member of turkish racist party (MHP). Why i tell you this things , I want you to see the abuse. Languages should be free! but, if you let it such tyrants , none of kirmanj people can help to grow kirmanjki wikipedia up. Please, look at the link above.. Its website of main kirmanj (zaza\ dimili) writers , linguists.(Malmîsanij, Munzur Çem, Roşan Lezgîn and others ) They are linguists of this language. But some tyrant, Mirzali, doesnt care kirmanji grammer and language ,and he makes his own languages and wikipedias here. Then , you will need to re-name kirmanjki and zazaki wikipedia as Mirzali wikipedia. As i see, you care wikipedia and you are an administrator, so dont let abuse. We need to protect languages and wikipedia.--Gomada 09:47, 12 october 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I have undeleted those pages. Do keep me informed if that user vandalises again. We shall keep watch of him. Thanks :) --Hydriz 10:14, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much (: i will let you know if he keeps vandalism.--Gomada 16:36, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm one of the administrators of the mentioned project . If there we speak of vandalism, then he is the vandalist, not me. Please correct your posture. --Mirzali 09:11, 15 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dear Hydriz! Please stop this Kurdish nationalist rassist like Gomada. Zazas are not Kurds, and thus is Zazaki also not a Kurdish language. He changes the articles with the Kurdish alphabet. It destroys the whole project and robs us of precious time. He is not entitled to do so. He leads the people astray with his polemical statement. He is himself a Kurd, and speaks not a word Zazaki. His slander against me is just a bad notice, nothing more. -- Mirzali 06:12, 15 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Kurmanji/Kurmancî

edit

Hello Hydriz, how are you? i want to ask you something about process of create new wikis. There is no request from Kurmanj people to create a Kurmanji wiki. But as i saw, somebody who cant even speak kurmanji has created test wiki codes here-->>Wp/kmr/pela Seri (and pela seri is not correct name for main page). Is this normal? Btw , Dont be confused about Kurmanji and Kirmanjki, both are Kurdish languages (: --Gomada 08:54, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

PrefixExport

edit

Hi, how is the PrefixExport development going? I'd like to help, but I don't think I have access to that. Anway, it would be great to eventually be able to do (multiple) regex replaces via the MediaWiki interface. So take that into account ;) SPQRobin 04:21, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thinking about it, then we might call the extension AdvancedExport :) SPQRobin 04:26, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Just create an account on GitHub, "fork" the repository, make changes and just send me a pull request. Of course you might need Git tools on your computer, but you can also edit on the website itself. I would try to improve it as much as possible, but PHP seems harder than it seems... :P --Hydriz 04:33, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I don't have much time in January. After that, I will probably have to learn to use Git anyway because MediaWiki is moving there :-/ So then I'll see if I can contribute to your repository as well. SPQRobin 22:41, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Git is very simple to use, GitHub provides documentation about using it, and it is hell easier than coding PHP :P --Hydriz 11:14, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wp/tyv deletion requests

edit

Thank you for your help in my attempt to clean up and improve the Tyvan language incubator Wikipedia. Your assessment about the requested deletions is incorrect for two reasons (I run TyvaWiki, btw), one of which I tried to explain on the talk pages. 1) The excerpted text is copyrighted and comes directly from the source books. The use of the copyrighted text at Tyvawiki is considered by us at Tyvawiki to fall under "fair use" because we are using it for the express educational purpose of teaching and learning the Tyvan language (see the side-by-side English translation we wrote of the text). That use cannot be replicated here at Wikipedia. 2) We do not re-license the text under GFDL as you can see at this discussion and this. I have no idea why the GNU license text is appearing again in the footer. I removed it a long time ago and it must have reappeared after a past Mediawiki upgrade. I am going to remove it again and I apologize for that confusion. --Боршоди Стейcи (talk) 15:30, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Its great for clarifying with me on this issue. Okay, I will pass your deletion requests. Do tag other pages that you find in violation of this copyright license. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 15:36, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Na'vi language: Need immediate help

edit

I would like to create the page Wp/Na'vi, but I can't because the wiki shows "The prefix is incorrect" (but this language has no language code). Can you allow this prefix, please ? Thank you very much. Ĉiuĵaŭde (talk) 14:54, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, Incubator needs to have test wikis being created using their proper language codes. Perhaps you can ask at the community portal and more people can help you with getting a language code. Cheers. --Hydriz (talk) 15:00, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I can try, but I'm very sure that this language doesn't have any language codes. I'll try. Ĉiuĵaŭde (talk) 15:05, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I read in a forum (forum.learnnavi.org) a poll about a request for Na'vi's ISO code. The request was rejected in february. So, please, can you allow the prefix "na'vi" ? Ĉiuĵaŭde (talk) 16:17, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

An important message about renaming users

edit

Dear Hydriz,

I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.

As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.

Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.

The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.

Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.

In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.

Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the SUL finalisation, read over the Help:Unified login page on Meta and leave a note on the talk page there, or on the talk page for global renamers. You can also contact me on my talk page on meta if you would like. I'm working as a bridge between Wikimedia Foundation Engineering and Product Development, Wikimedia Stewards, and you to assure that SUL finalisation goes as smoothly as possible; this is a community-driven process and I encourage you to work with the Stewards for our communities.

Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) talk 18:24, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bot renaming

edit

Hi! Is it possible to rename everything from -ujo into -io in Wy/eo namespace? Is here anybody who can start bot renaming? Bot should rename articles and categories and make changes in the links naming too. --Ochilov (talk) 09:23, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it should be possible, but I won't be able to help you on this for the time being. Is it possible if you do it manually instead if it is not too many? It would be better as you can do a manual check of the contents of the page first as well. If this is really not possible, do contact me again and we can work something out. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 09:40, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I tried to do it myself, without a bot, finished with Central Asia, but when it came to Europe... To many cities :( Thousands of categories should be renamed... It is really hard to do it without a bot. If you do not have time now, I can wait probably :) --Ochilov (talk) 09:54, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Ochilov Thank you for your patience. :) We can probably start discussing about what you wish to do. If I am not mistaken, you wish to:
  1. Move all pages that end with "ujo" to a similar one but instead ends with "io"? (e.g. "abcujo" becomes "abcio")
  2. Fix all links that point to pages in #1
  3. Rename "thousands of categories"
Are there anything that I have missed out? Also, can you explain more about #3? Thank you! --Hydriz (talk) 12:29, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, you didn't miss anything. #3 is similar to #1, moving all categories, not only articles. Also, there are some templates with -ujo. And it is better do not to change redirects with -ujo. Why do I ask for renaming? Naming countries with -ujo was in old Esperanto, after reformation it is -io, in Esperanto Wikipedia they write -io. --Ochilov (talk) 12:43, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Alright, thank you! Looking at my workload now, I would only be able to handle this in November or December. I hope you don't mind waiting! If things are really urgent, please feel free to ask other administrators for help and update me about it. Thanks again! --Hydriz (talk) 12:47, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
No, it is not so urgent :) So, these two months I will expand existing articles - still a lot of work. Then, I think, in spring we can get our own website :) --Ochilov (talk) 12:56, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am afraid not. I will be working on this task in early December. My apologies. --Hydriz (talk) 00:01, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ah, that's okay, thank you! :) --Ochilov (talk) 14:48, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Ochilov I am now free to work on this. I will get things ready to do #1. --Hydriz (talk) 13:55, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have done the moves for the article and category namespaces. Do you need me to do them for the template namespace? Also, it might actually be easier to do #2 manually, what do you think? --Hydriz (talk) 14:45, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much! Yes, templates too, because we have maps, "informkestoj" and etc. #2 - it also better be done by bot, because also need to be replaced in more than 200 articles :) --Ochilov (talk) 17:03, 2 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Ochilov I have finished both #1 and #2. Do you still want me to do #3? If yes, can you give me more details on what categories need to be deleted? Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 05:49, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
It is fine, I can delete categories myself, because there is a little quantity of them and it is not so sufficient :) Thanks for helping! --Ochilov (talk) 07:50, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hm, you know, it would be good to delete categories which are redirects, since there is no need of them. Is it possible? :) --Ochilov (talk) 07:55, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
I deleted 74 of such categories. Do ask if you have more requests! :) --Hydriz (talk) 13:45, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much! :) --Ochilov (talk) 08:48, 5 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Humble Request to Hon'ble Members of Language Committee

edit

As a Test Admin of Wp/khw Khowar Wikipedia Project I on behalf of the Khowar language communities of Pakistan, Afghanist, India and Xinjiang(China) humbly request the all respectable members of the language comittee for early approval, creation of Khowar Wkipedia i.e. khw.wikipedia.org. The Khowar language is spoken in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Xingjiang(China). I have created a test page for Khowar language in incubator i.e. Wikipedia Khowar (Khowar Language Wikipedia), On behalf of the abovementioned Khowar speaking four countries for early approval and creation and normalization of Khowar Wikipedia edition. Khowar is one of spoken 14 languages in Chitral(Pakistan). It will be useful to Khowar internet users to report news from worldwide. I strongly feel it deserves its own Wikipedia. Being a test admin i have translated all most used messages into khowar. I have created test Khowar Wikipedia at Khowar Wikpedia.--Raki 05:43, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, but I am not a member of the Language Committee, so I am unable to approve or bring their attention to this project. You have informed other people that are in the Language Committee about this yourself, so please do wait for their reply. Good luck! --Hydriz (talk) 05:49, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Future steps for Wy/eo

edit

Thank you very much for your work in bot renaming! So, the future steps for Wy/eo are:

  1. Finish interface translations on translatewiki.net
  2. Get 2 more active editors and keep activity for 2-3 months

Then Wy/eo can have it's own website. Am I right? --Ochilov (talk) 05:42, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I believe so. I am not part of the committee that approves of new wikis to be created, so I can't provide answers on this. --Hydriz (talk) 05:44, 3 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

  2. I don't really see it as consensus. Please have a look at the previous logo vote which received 20 votes in total. The one you have started only had about 5? Also, I check both wikis everyday for updates, so I will close that discussion if sufficient number of people have commented. --Hydriz (talk) 00:54, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

CUT THE CRAP. All of your have already existed in 死亡遊戲 this movie. It just clearly shown that same movie it is. (PS: I have watched for these movies. But there are the differences naming in Chinese.) And also that topic was NOT the source topic in Wikisource. I just clearly to say: He is just Mozartbitte and also suspended in Cantonese wikipedia due to be published the same topics again and again (permisson for why he suspended). OK. Everybody, calm, down.

Words like "cut the crap" is hardly acceptable on the Incubator (or anywhere else on any Wiki projects) unless one had got absolutely-indisputable-even-for-the-best-lawyers evidence of vandalism, which doesn't appear to be the case here. Instead, it appears to be that the main argument is whether 死亡遊戲 and 死亡的遊戲 are the same movie. After a bit of research, I've got reason to believe that they're not the same movie, so creating two separate pages appear to be legitimate.

OTOH, my research has shown that User:Lupenquarto is indeed a verified sock puppet of Charliewolf79 (while User:‎Mozartbitte is listed as a "suspected sock puppet"), but the IP address wasn't listed anywhere in the report. I would recommend further Check-Users. If those really were yet more sock puppets, I'd say we block all those sock puppets without further notice, given that the current sock puppet policies aren't "neither encouraging nor discouraging", but "actively discouraging".

I've made a formal CheckUser request on Meta-Wiki. Hopefully, this would give us some answer that we're looking for. 【粵語文學大使殘陽孤侠粵維辭典起錨! 06:12, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

You watch it carefully for 死亡的遊戲, Because many of the language wikis (especially English Wikipedia) will reject for this topic because he had expanded in 死亡遊戲 (GAME OF DEATH) or judged for the same topic. --WKDx417 (talk) 07:39, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) I cannot read this rtl script—Hebrew is the only one I know. But for starters, it looks like the infobox here is trying to call an unprefixed template ({{Nowrap}}) rather than the appropriate prefixed template ({{Wp/khw/Nowrap}}). So why don't you start there? Then check on the template {{Wp/khw/sec link/text}}. It looks like your sister projects template is trying to call that template, but it doesn't exist.
(Separately: Hydriz, want to create {{tps}} as an unprefixed administrative template here?)
Finally, Raki: Be sure the gadget "directional editing control script" is turned on in your preferences. It's extremely helpful in making sure that you get things right when you are trying to work with templates in rtl languages. StevenJ81 (talk) 18:48, 30 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Mexican and a wikipedian in Nahuatl language, we don't need a new Wikipedia in nhn, we have this variant in nah.wikipedia.org. (http://nah.wikipedia.org/) --Marrovi (talk) 21:21, 1 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

My work is in other Mexican languages, in incubator only have two nahuatl variants, Classical Nahuatl (nci) and Huastec Nahuatl (nch). Greettings from Mexico.--Marrovi (talk) 21:25, 1 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wiktionary

edit

Hello, I have just noticed that several articles of the Wiktionary in Algerian Arabic (arq) use as a source a book of Moroccan Arabic (ary): A Dictionary of Moroccan Arabic, Georgetown University Press, Washington, D.C., 2007, here is an example: Wt/arq/اشبار

Would it be possible to rename articles using this reference to the original language, replace arq by ary?

Thank you in advance

This user wrote me as well, and I answered at some length on my talk page. StevenJ81 (talk) 19:29, 14 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Importing Hungarian Wikinews

edit

Quite some time ago (I think on 3 June 2011) you have imported a part of the closed huwn to Incubator - thank you for that. As far as I can tell, you rarely do import, but could I bother you with a request to import the rest of the project? [Pages listed after and including R in n:hu:Kategória:Publikált (publicated articles in the main namespace) and the Portal namespace seem to be missing.] - Xbspiro (talk) 12:21, 25 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

I think you should contact other administrators for the time being as I am rather tight on my workload currently and would not be able to fulfill your request in a relatively short amount of time. Thank you. --Hydriz (talk) 03:17, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have reached out to others - thank you for taking the time to reply. - Xbspiro (talk) 21:42, 28 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users

edit

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
