Delete my articles and edits

edit

hi "Did you know" in WIKTIONARY MASRY not in quotes Template:Wq/arz/انت تعرف؟

I wrote this article on the Wikinari, and Mahmudmasri deleted it I wrote in a paragraph there are 400 million Arabs who understand the Egyptian language. The evidence for this is that they understand the songs and watch the films written in the Egyptian language without the translation of the bot. Objectively object to the number, incorrect and delete the article as a whole. The article have a many paragraph sexplain how to differentiate that the word is the origin of ancient Egyptian and escape from the Egyptian language of the Arabic language or the word origin Arabic He deleted the article because he is not convinced of a single paragraph

It is not right to delete an article without a discussion author of the article if a paragraph needs a source can be written in need of a source there is a discussion page for any page on the Wikinari can write and look I see that the right article is just to object to a deliberate sabotage clause

the Template Template:Wt/arz/NUMBEROFARTICLES does Count the words automatic but we but the number of words manual the words become 250 I changed the number from 198 to 250 Mahmudmasri returned the old number I explained to him that this is a mistake and the number is changed manually, but he did not return the cancellation My edits see the history of Template:Wt/arz/NUMBEROFARTICLES plz redaking (talk) 09:49, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Clacsura de los wiki-proyectos de México

edit

Sorry, I cannot understand that well, but here wouldn't be the best place to put it. It would be at I:RFD. I will transfer you there. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 10:01, 24 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Let me ask you this: how long do you think these Wikis will be sitting around in this state? Marrovi claims he has grammar books (not good enough still, "grammar books" do not make you a native speaker; I had grammar books for Navajo Wikipedia and the contents I wrote still ended up atrocious and discouraging to native speakers) or other data; but we aren't just talking about one or two languages here, we're talking about a dozen endangered languages which deserve far more respect than a copy-and-pasted page from a different test in the wrong language.

Check it yourself: the Test Wikis for Mixe (Wp/mxp), Chol (Wp/ctu), Totonac (Wp/top), Guarijio (Wp/var) and O'odham (Wp/ood) are direct copies of the same page, which refers to the Yaqui language and has links to article titles in Yaqui! Why should we keep these? They were created by just copying and pasting, no information was even changed, how useful is that to anybody? And note that the Mayo Wikipedia (Wp/mfy) refers to itself as the Kiliwa Wikipedia on its mainpage! I am all in favor of having these pages when someone comes along who is willing to put in the time and effort necessary to have useful pages, but that's clearly not what has happened here.

Tell me, how would you feel if you went to en.wikipedia.org and saw a page, written in French, that said "Welcome to the German Wikipedia!" and all the article links were in German? This does not inspire confidence and is utterly useless to native speakers and everybody else. --Node ue 02:46, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have checked all, yes they are direct copies, and try to find someone who can translate yaq to mix or to other languages. The pages are also stale (6 months). Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 10:06, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, in the templates Template:Uw-vandalism1, Template:Uw-vandalism3, Template:Uw-vandalism4 and Template:Uw-vandalism4im which you recently imported, you wrote "Please see the WikimediaIncubator extention etherpad before deleting." - I have looked in this etherpad, but found nothing about the templates. Implementation of Twinkle would at least require them. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 20:00, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I believe we would probably not be implementing Twinkle anytime near, but this is a good start. Implementing Twinkle would require lots of code changes, which is very tiring. Besides, we already have AbuseFilter to stop them before we even warn them. --Hydriz 14:24, 17 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mediation: Pipil

edit

Thanks for your attention. Since my appeal on the Community Portal I have made new overtures to Marrovi to join us rather than getting in our way, and he seems amenable. Writing on my user talk page (in Spanish - sorry), I suggested that he should join others who are seriously learning Nawat (alias Pipil), come into the pro-Nawat community, and then when he actually knows the language go back to editing articles, to which he agreed. I then asked him to kindly eliminate his "fake" Pipil page inside the Nahuatl wikipedia and the link to it at the top of the Nahuatl Wikipedia main page, and he promised to do so. As far as I can tell he has now done both these things. If that is the end of the matter, meaning that he also stops trying to use Nahuatl (or his homemade Nahuatl-Nawat hybrid jibberish) in articles on the Nawat (Pipil) project, then I am satisfied and there will be no more need for mediation on this. I have been trying to sort this out with him for a year since the whole business started and this is the first time he has backed down like this, so I think my request for mediation may have had some effect; therefore I think it was a good move and I thank you for responding as you did, in the end it may have been sufficient. Sometimes things do work! Hopefully with time he will understand more and become a positive asset in the project and the community, and failing that, at least the obstructive behavior will stop. Salut! --A R King 06:47, 15 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ok thanks. If you move them, then they are separate useless pages, and if you leave them where they are then the page history is kept and you can still look at past revisions and copy the content from there. SPQRobin 23:51, 8 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm writing to ask you, as a bureaucrat of this wiki, to translate and review the notification that will be sent to all users, also on this wiki, who will be forced to change their user name on May 27 and will probably need your help with renames. so thanks in this page[5] luri lrc is verified with an lur proffessor but I speak with mr [6] please see he said Hi, I meant the Language Committee needs to contact an independent person who would then verify the project. You should not get verification yourself, since in that case you can make someone of your own contributors or someone you know do so. In such cases it is no longer independent verification. So please await until the Language Committee has found someone; you can however always suggest persons to contact. Thank you for your understanding please help I don't understand what do I do now? luri lrc has 5 or 6 active useres in 11 months past please help us to fix this problem

and I have another question could you show me how do you change the [7] pardon meMogoeilor (talk) 15:45, 13 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm not part of the Language committee, and I leave the contacting of an independent person to them. It just means that until LangCom has found a reviewer, the wiki will stay here. So, to change the .js and the .css pages, you need the 'translator' bit. It's normally given to users who want to translate the Incubator, but has also been used to edit test-wiki's script pages. You may request the translator bit on I:A. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 12:50, 14 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

best regardsMogoeilor (talk) 11:48, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

So you may go try to find a professor of Lurish and ask him/her to review the test-wiki. The professor would have to be vetted by LangCom though. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 13:39, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

pardon me I'm so sorry I do'nt got what do you mean proffessor of lurish[you mean that this person must have professor degree in luri language or he or she must be a proffessor in any study as like as arts and social sciences and other sudies] and The professor would have to be vetted by LangCom though, please pardon me
best wishesMogoeilor (talk) 14:22, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

A professor of the Lurish language working in an educational institution (a university). The professor must be approved by LangCom, and surely the professor must be willing to review the wiki. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 21:05, 16 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

An important message about renaming users

edit

Dear Ebe123,

I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.

As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.

Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.

The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.

Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.

In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.

Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the SUL finalisation, read over the Help:Unified login page on Meta and leave a note on the talk page there, or on the talk page for global renamers. You can also contact me on my talk page on meta if you would like. I'm working as a bridge between Wikimedia Foundation Engineering and Product Development, Wikimedia Stewards, and you to assure that SUL finalisation goes as smoothly as possible; this is a community-driven process and I encourage you to work with the Stewards for our communities.

Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) talk 18:24, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Templates needed in Dagbani (dag) and K'iche (quc)

edit

We're currently working to provide content on these two incubated Wikis. For our content to be properly sourced and referenced we need the following templates and modules:

Is there any way to automate this process, or where do I even install the templates for use on a single subwiki of the incubator?
Thanks, CFCF (talk) 06:47, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

P.S. Messaging you as you said you might be able to help. CFCF (talk) 09:45, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I can help. What I can do is import all the pages in that list to the test-wikis, and then you could translate the content and prefix the links. Tell me when to import. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 17:29, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
As there is content available I think we could go ahead and auto-import the templates right away. I'm not sure if some have already been imported to the Dagbani wiki, and we just recently went live with our first translation at nrwiki at Wp/nr/Ebola - so there is that one as well. Then of course there is the question of underlying modules such as en:Module:Arguements & en:Module:Yesno, is any of this needed? CFCF (talk) 07:35, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Did the nrwiki myself, though manually. CFCF (talk) 08:00, 5 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Is Wp/nr working for you? Well, here's the other two wiki's pages. The Module:Yesno is needed, and included. Just prefix the links afterwards. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 18:41, 6 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have an idea of a new feature, called "text search with autosuggest" through which you can specify your search filters in the search box itself (apart from the UI), and also have autosuggest to show the possible values for the filter options. An example is this.

Please write a comment here about what you think of this feature. Also here you may read about the other improvements that are planned.

Thank you and I shall be waiting for your feedback.

Hello,

This discussion started regarding your comment. I want you to check block log and let me know if anything was done against the rules. Also please read w:Wikipedia:Hat collecting as well, I put a part of that here in case you're not going to read it: "Hat collecting is the process of gaining rights on Wikipedia (and other wikis) just to show off or to boost one's ego, rather than because you have any actual use for them." , also that's called harassing, I'm going to ask other people to comment on this.

Sorry

edit

Hi Ebe123, I apologize for the deletion tag. I just noticed yesterday that you had commented earlier at the page. I thought it looked like a mess (some text in a long rectangular bar and thought it looked promotional [I think]). I'm figuring this wiki may be similar to test.wiki or somewhat different. Anyways, sorry about that... the time of the tag, I had just started with the monitoring for multiple wikis. DivineAlpha (talk) 17:49, 11 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

No worries, it's hard to determine whether a article is promotional, as it might as well just be badly formatted. Maybe bring up the deletion request once the wiki gets it's own subdomain, as there will be some local sysops. Also, this is not really a test-wiki, it's more of a meta.wiki, with hundreds of small Wiki sites (maybe testing in the sense of seeing whether the wiki can stand alone with its own subdomain). Keep up the work! Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 01:35, 13 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the encouragement too! I wish I could help out somehow on this wiki, but I don't really know what to do? DivineAlpha (talk) 06:08, 13 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
We need more people like you patrolling pages for problems. There is also much help with test-wiki templates that would be appreciated by the editors of those test-wikis. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 16:41, 16 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ebe, how nice to see that you are active again. I thought you might be interested in supporting the proposal at the current "community wishlist" survey of the Foundation, which is about enabling Wikidata support for Incubator: m:2016_Community_Wishlist_Survey/Categories/Wikidata#Support_for_Incubator_projects. If we can get enough support, this feature might finally arrive. Best regards, --MF-W {a, b} 12:26, 12 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

WikimediaIncubator extension

edit

Thanks for your support for my approved +2. Can you also apply for +2 so that we can peer review each other's patches for this extension? Cheers. --Hydriz (talk) 13:30, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

(tps) What's up with this? Aside from my interest here at Incubator, @OWTB and I have installed it on the about-to-be-opened new "Incubator Plus" on Miraheze. So I'd like to be in the loop. Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 14:30, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
The Incubator extension does site-specific things, such as for the segregation of the individual wikis (as you know). Haven't really looked at it in a few years, but the extension needs to be kept up-to-date (in relation to MediaWiki) with bugs looked after :) One of the things I'm looking at is to deprecate the test-wiki portal template and integrate activity graphs. Not sure of Hydriz's plans. (BTW, made the request). Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 15:04, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Look at User:SPQRobin/notes#Extension for some items to work on in the extension. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 15:07, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
@StevenJ81: Yes, most of the plans I have are in that page linked and also in Incubator:Future. Can you also bring me into the loop about this "Incubator Plus"? Would be great if I had a stake in it as well. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 16:30, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm familiar with the contents at both of those locations, and have really wanted people to work on many of the things on those lists. (Hydriz, I know I have pinged you on this once or twice.) There are certainly things that don't work right here any more—most visibly, perhaps, the automatically-generated portal pages—and I would love to see things working correctly. There are also administrative tools that I'd love to see working correctly in some form. (The statistics OWTB and I have gathered for Template:Test status statistics, for example, have been accumulated by hand each time, and that takes an enormous amount of work.)

Just two specific comments about the test-wiki portal from my end, if I may:

  • I'd like to see the underlying source that translates language codes into language names kept up to date more automatically. (Compare, for example, Wq/yi and Wq/xug.)
  • If we are going to deprecate {{Test wiki}} fully in favor of an extension-generated default, I'd like any pages in the categories "/status/rejected" or "/status/invalidcode" to look pretty distinctive compared to other autogenerated pages, because I would like it to be clear that people are not welcome to create projects there. (Is there a way for the extension to read a list of rejected projects so as to generate that??)
    • There is something to be said for making "/status/approved" distinctive, too.
    • Potentially, though, we could partially deprecate the template: let it stay for rejected (and maybe approved) projects, but ditch it for the vast majority of open (or not created) projects.

As for Incubator Plus 2.0, look here. Follow links on that page for an explanation as to why we're moving Incubator away from Wikia/FANDOM. Click on "Community Portal" (for now, OWTB's talk page) to see what we've done so far. Really, we've been close to opening for about six weeks. There is one thing I still want to do before we start importing a test project or two for beta testing: I want to fix the version of {{Test wiki}} there to get it working right, probably by taking out all of the internationalization pieces. (Help is welcome, of course.)

The default test-wiki portal page simply returns an error on Miraheze. For now, we were simply going to avoid that problem by requiring the template.

Any help there is very welcome! StevenJ81 (talk) 17:19, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Statistics is something that I will definitely be working on first. However, for the translation of language codes to language names, that is dependent on the CLDR database, but it's a good idea to try and pull from our own data source (probably putting it as a MediaWiki message/JSON so that updates can be done on-wiki and changes are made live immediately).
Also, is there any tracking bug on Miraheze Phabricator on why an exception is thrown when we access an infopage on the Incubator Plus? Try Wp/en on Incubator Plus and it throws an exception, so it is probably something that we can fix directly in the extension. --Hydriz (talk) 04:01, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Granting rights

edit

Today, you have approved the request of the user Bachounda. Are you sure he is eligible to be a test admin for the wiki Wt/arq? The reason to ask is, please check this link which provides the contributions towards the project Wt/arq. From that page, I was able to understand that no edit was made by Bachounda after May 2017 in that project. So I think his request needs to be reverted and he needs to be made to edit for a minimum period of one month and then consider his request. Do note that this is just a suggestion and that I don't know much in detail. Adithyak1997 (talk) 19:35, 31 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

There is actually no formal requirement of activity in a test-wiki to acquire test-adminship, although it is a concern that could have been raised. There was a period of 5 days for you to express concern about the request. I suggest you still raise the issue there. I do admit that my standards were lower for Bachounda as they already had test-admin rights in that test-wiki, and in another. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 19:45, 31 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Adithyak1997, Ebe123: As I am a co-founder of Wiktionary Algerian, I must clarify what occurred on this test wiki project during these years. I and GeekEmad were working on the structure of the wiki making the main page as well as useful templates. During this time, Bachounda was working on searching for public domain databases that can be used to automatically enrich the project and he was also working on a bot for the enrichment of the wiki mostly offline. Currently, we have finished our work on the structure of Wiktionary Algerian. That is why I did not apply for renewing my test adminship for this project and that is why Bachounda applied for the test adminship of the test wiki. --Csisc (talk) 13:24, 1 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
I actually don't know whether this comment needs any reply or not. Pinging @StevenJ81: to know if he has to say anything. My doubt arised only due to the inactiveness that is seen through Catanalysis. Do note that I have understood the reply of Csisc. Adithyak1997 (talk) 18:17, 1 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
I will add: As long as the test-admin involved is contributing constructively, we tend to be in favor of expanding the right within a group of tests having the same language. Remember the following points:
  • Such a person is an experienced test-admin who knows the language of the test. Even if not an extremely regular contributor to the second test, the test-admin can still spot and fix trouble.
  • There is really no new "rights grant" to this. The only thing that really changes is that such a test-admin no longer sees a warning not to use the admin tools on the second test. As a practical matter, the test-admin toolset is available to all test-admins anywhere within Incubator. See the note under I:A, § Test-administrators: "If you do something outside your test, be prepared to defend your actions or you may be desysopped." The 'crats would surely never sanction a test-admin for using the rollback tool against obvious vandalism somewhere other than in her/his test. A priori, such a test-admin working (constructively!) on a second test would be treated with the same leniency by the 'crats. At most, if the community of the second test is unhappy about it, we'd ask the test-admin to stop and seek formal permission to work on the second test. How we will see unregistered users

edit

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
