Unable to create a page

The abuse filter says to me:"invalidcode" but the Yandang have a code, and this code is yan— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 197.61.9.13 (discussioncontribs) --Syunsyunminmin (talk) 05:00, 9 January 2023 (UTC).[reply]

Not an admin, but I'm not sure which one language are you asking for? Yandang refers to Yendang language (iso639-3:ynq), not iso639-3:yan which is a dialect of Sumo, both are from distinct language families. Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 03:17, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request for page-moving w/o rd

Could I have the ability to move pages without leaving a redirect? Some pages in the Dargin project mix Latin and Cyrillic (primarily using the Latin vowel I for palochka), and should be cleaned up before it goes live.

Also, I tried JS Wiki Browser here, but it just spins w/o doing anything. Do I need special permission? It doesn't say I do, as it would on other sites. Kwamikagami (talk) 22:37, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Kwamikagami Hi, Test-administrators are allowed to move a page without leaving redirect within their test project. You can request for it if the requirements are met. NinjaStrikers «» 13:24, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wp/lut/Common.css

Hello, I want to change the font-family for headers in Wp/lut because it is causing display issues with the default font.

I put code that I think will do that in MediaWiki_talk:Wp/lut/Common.css. Could someone take a look and create MediaWiki:Wp/lut/Common.css?

You can see an example of the display issues in the headers for the sləx̌il and q̓il̕bid pages. AdJHu • 胡安祝 22:48, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@AdJHu: I'm not sure if it prints out the way you want. Would you like to check it? --Sotiale (talk) 12:51, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sotiale: Thanks, that fixes the issues I saw with the “x wedge” and “glottalized l” characters. There’s probably a font that makes the kerning for the apostrophe in glottalized characters look better but I’ll look into that in the future. AdJHu • 胡安祝 13:50, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to create Wp/cnr/ page

Hello! I want to add some more pages to Montenegrin Wikipedia, but I'm getting an error: "You are trying to create a page without a valid ISO 639-1 or -3 code. This code either is not valid or does not belong to a language accepted for new Wikimedia projects. If you came here from any other page, please return back and fix the link and then create the correctly named page. If by any chance this is blocking you from creating any page which you think has a valid ISO 639-1 or -3 code or belongs to an accepted language, please let administrators know."

error screenshot

Montenegrin language has valid ISO 639-3 code, check here or here. Also, there is already 1,968 articles with wp/cnr prefix.

Please, explain what is going on and how to enable adding pages to this Wiki. Thanks! Millodarka (talk) 22:05, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

About The 'juc' code

I tried to create Wp/juc with related subpages but the system doesn't allow me to do it. The code is for the en:juc language. Could somebody help please?Sdf (talk) 08:59, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Because juc is classified in ISO 639-3 code as an extinct language, editing on incubatorwiki is blocked. Since this was decided in June 2022, the juc pages created before that exist. --Sotiale (talk) 10:30, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And Wp/zkt is as well? Sdf (talk) 11:13, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Since zkt is currently classified as a historical language, it is blocked for another reason. Under the current LPP, historical and extinct languages at least cannot have Wikipedia. --Sotiale (talk) 12:17, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please enable adding new pages to Montenegrin Wikipedia

Hi there, me again.

There was no reply on this one https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Incubator:Administrators%27_noticeboard#Unable_to_create_Wp/cnr/_page, so I posted the same question on a few different places (here and here).

I got answer on Phabricator and it pointed me back on Administrators' noticeboard.

So, please can you change the filter as suggested? Or, if the Syunsyunminmin is not right about the solution for this problem, explain what is happening and how to fix it.

Thanks! Millodarka (talk)

I think "cnr" meets Language_proposal_policy.
  1. Wp/cnr doesn't have a wiki yet. (Special:SiteMatrix)
  2. cnr is a valid ISO code[1].
  3. cnr is Individual, not Macrolanguage.
  4. The filter is preventing it.
Are there any policies that I don't know about? Syunsyunminmin (talk) 13:31, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's disallowed because Montenegrin is not recognized as an eligible language. A 5th request (after 4 rejections already) is open but unlikely to be accepted. --MF-W {a, b} 22:14, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So, are you saying Montenegrin Wiki can't be developed any further in the incubator? Millodarka (talk) 22:37, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @MF-Warburg!
Hope you can be a bit more elaborate and precise in your reply...
How and where you see exactly *(reference missing) it is not recognized as an eligible language?
Where do you see (non) likeliness being *(an official) feature and process stopper?
Thank you very much!

The handling of Wp/izh

Good evening. I've been trying to edit the Ingrian Wikipedia test in the last few days, and I've noticed a lot of systematic errors present in most pages - grammatical mistakes, usage of Finnish borrowings where a native term already exists, stub entries with nothing but "X is a letter" etc. Now, I would be more than willing to help out (as witnessed by my recent contributions), but the sheer amount of pages to fix (683!), and considering the fact that even on the main page there are some very basic grammatical errors (Wikipedias instead of Wikipediaas, terve instead of tere), and that the article about Ingrian itself is a copy-paste of a grammar book, makes this a nearly insurmountable task.

I'm not sure what the best course of action would be here. Should we start again? Should we try to fix it all? Neither seem ideal. From what I can see, I'm the only somewhat active editor at the moment. Is there any precedent for handling these situations?

Thanks in advance. Thadh (talk) 19:21, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Thadh: Sorry about that! Most of the top contributor (in terms of number of edits) to the Ingrian Wikipedia are so-called "language hijackers" (people who claim to know a language but really don't) that are now either permanently blocked or inactive. There is a change they may actually all be sockpuppets of the same person. It seems like a huge mess, to be honest.
I have a proposal for you that is sort of mid-way between fixing everything and deleting everything: We make a (temporary) template called {{Wp/izh/Keep}}, and you can add that template to pages that should be kept. Once you think it is ready, we can delete everything that is not marked by that template.
This proposal will require a bit of manual work on your part (since you're the one who knows the language), but I think it could be done rather quickly. What do you think, does that sound like a possible solution? An alternative would be to mark stuff that should be deleted with {{delete}}, but given the ratio of pages that should be kept vs. pages to be deleted, I think it would be easier to mark the ones that should be kept. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 02:27, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jon Harald Søby: Yes, that sounds like a great solution, thank you! Thadh (talk) 07:33, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wp/ja-simple

I tried to create a "Simple Japanese Wikipedia" and named the project "ja-simple" in accordance with the French version of the project name. However, the language code "jp-simple" does not exist, so I could not create it as an ordinary user. Please create the project as the project may not be as simple as the simple-French version. Thank you (I am not a Japanese speaker, so the sentence may seem a bit puzzling).--Kouichi Fan (talk) 11:24, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It cannot be created because it is a page without a prefix. What did you want there? Syunsyunminmin (talk) 16:45, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to leave a comment to the effect that the translation from 639-1 to 639-3 is flawed, there is no concept of a macrolanguage in 639-1. I really can't see why discussion pages shouldn't be edited. Rich Farmbrough (talk)
@Rich Farmbrough: Sorry about that, it is a quirk of the WikimediaIncubator extension.
