Добрый день. (Please apologize for not answering in Russian.) Thank you very much for asking about this Wp/sjd-article!

Yes, this short stub article means "My story" and is definitely very personal and not at all encyclopedic. Yet, I personally do not think we are in the position to intervene at this point. The incubator is about "testing". In our case (and probably in many other cases of endangered languages) it is also about "training" because potential Kildin Saami Wikipedians do not know the language and Kildin Saami language users on the other hand do not know what Wikipedia is. Let the testing and training take some time, articles can be edited later.

The article in question - and a few others - were created during a seminar with Kildin Saami speakers (writers) where we trained different computer-related basics, see http://saami.uni-freiburg.de/ksdp/RU/seminar11.html. We also showed Wikipedia and the sjd-Incubator and trained simple Wiki-Syntax. Note that the sjd-Incubator was actually not started in collaboration with Kildin Saami people! But when Kildin Saami language activists learned about it, they found it interesting. However, our seminar participants, like other potential writers for the sjd-Incubator, are not very well familiar with computers (the youngest fluent Kildin Saami speakers are on the average about 50 years old and they are very few in number!). Nobody among them uses a computer on a daily basis. And please imagine: nobody has known before our seminar that Wikipedia is something you can write into. We created some curiosity and interest in the sjd-Incubator and believe that this can help revitalizing the language. During our work we simply let people open new articles and write. Thus, the very few pages in Wp/sjd/ which are not started by myself obviously reflect the participating Kildin Saami's view about what a free encyclopedia in their language should look like. I hope they continue writing - at least from time to time - and produce more and better encyclopedic articles in Kildin Saami in the future. I also hope that we non-Saami will learn more about how culturally (and obviously also philosophically) divers our own world actually is.

By the way, we should perhaps discuss such Incubator-and-endangered-language-related things even more principally. I am new to Wikipedia myself. I still do not know much more than the basics about the administration of the whole Wikipedia (Wikimedia) project, but during our seminar, one user (User:Оця Лукин) was banned as a "Sockpuppet". This was ridiculous for several reasons. Оця Лукин (who registered under his clear name! which everybody in the small Kildin Saami community would know), a very nice elderly man who for the first time in his life has the courage to write his native language (which is still primarily an oral language without written tradition and established standards) in public gets banned by an anonymous administrator, who most likely sits somewhere far away and did not even read what Оця Лукин produced. Of course, we all had the same IP because we were all sitting in the local school building. I can imagine that this is quite a normal situation for small endangered language communities: a training seminar like ours, a language center with a few activists working at the same place, a local radio station with the only internet connection available for the whole village… If the Wikipedia (Wikimedia) community really wants to support endangered languages, such issues has to be handled more flexible.

Akkala Sami phonology

Helloǃ I decided to bring up Akkala Sami section of English Wiktionary, since, while having relatively recent data (Zajkov, 1987), it doesn't have any dictionaries. I have a hard time with vowel allophones though - Zajkov's descriptions doesn't really match with IPA vowel chart. I wanted to ask, do you know how does they work? Zajkov's transcription is a version of UPA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uralic_Phonetic_Alphabet), similar systems are used by other Russian scholars working on Uralic languages. Since Akkala Saami is linguistically closest to Skolt Saami I recommend using Skolt Saami orthography for writing it in a dictionary. Both languages have similar vowels.

By the way, there are in fact also dictionaries because Genetz 1891 (''Wörterbuch der Kola-Lappischen Dialekte nebst Sprachproben'') and T. I. Itkonen 1858 (''Koltan- ja kuolanlapin sanakirja'') include Akkala Saami data.
