Welcome to Hunsrück German Wikipedia!

edit

Hello! I'm happy to see a native speaker of Hunsrück German! I hope you will enjoy contributing here. :) Ask me if you need help.

By the way, do you know someone else who's able to speak it too and intrested in Wikipedia? Then there will be more chance to open the wiki somewhen. Regards, --Midnight Gambler (talk) 13:46, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your messege, Midnight Gambler. I am very excited to start creating articles. I have postponed this for way to long, actually since I put in the request for this Wikipedia ... Anyway, yeah thanks for offering to help - and I probably will need it. As far as having more people to contribute here, I have been doing some "evangelizing" for a couple of years now and I think that I will be able to start bringing some people in to contribute. Super excited to see this take off into and active Wikipedia soon. Paul Beppler (talk) 14:42, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Brasilioonisch"

edit

Is this a name of Portuguese language at all or a name of namely Brazilian Portuguese? --Midnight Gambler (talk) 06:35, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Brasilioonisch" is the way we say "Brazilian Portuguese" in our dialect. We rarely talk about Portugal's language in our dialect, when we do we are usually already speaking in Portuguese. When we don't use the term Brasilioonisch, we may in a conversation say, for example: "Nein die spreche unser Sproch net, die könne norre Português verzähle!" (Translated: "No, they don't speak our language, they only know Portuguese.". If I were to be having a conversation with my Mom in the dialect, and I would start talking to her about my trip to Portugal, I would use the term "Português", for example: "Ja Mama, dort in Portugal tun se ooch Português spreche." (Translated: "Yes Mom, there in Portugal they also speak Portuguese."). In other words, even though we understand German speaking Europeans when the say "Portugiesisch", we ourselves don't use that word. Let me know if you didn't understand me. Number of articles being displayed is incorrect

edit

Hello, Midnight Gambler! I was wondering why this 256

is only accounting for 51 articles when I know there are more already ... Do you have any idea what is it that I am missing here? Either way, thanks. Paul Beppler (talk) 00:26, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Please add Category:Wp/hrx in all articles which your wiki has. Next time it's better to ask me on my personal talk page, because I might not pay attention to your message here.--Midnight Gambler (talk) 12:11, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Babel template

edit

Hello, I have added the Babel template on your user page. This one indicates languages you're able to speak, it's desirable to use it on this site.

I've added {{#babel:hrx-N|pt-N|en-3}}, you can fix if something's wrong or if you're also able to speak some other languages. Thank you and best wishes. :) --Midnight Gambler (talk) 10:46, 8 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Midnight Gambler, what a great idea! There is one thing however, the name of the language needs to be changed from "Hunsrik" to "Riograndenser Hunsrückisch". Thanks a bunch! Paul Beppler (talk) 06:02, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
It could be done with translation of interface on translatewiki.net .
By the way, the translation of interface is needed in any case for your test wiki. At least 500 most-used system messages should be translated. I have an account there.--Midnight Gambler (talk) 14:28, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the information, and suggestion. As a matter of fact I just opened a Translatewiki.net account as Paul Beppler and will start working on the localization of the interface (Woahhh ... I feel like I'm back at Microsoft doing localization he he he). Paul Beppler (talk) 23:20, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I just got a request place for a new language (hrx) on Translatewiki.net - as soon as I get that approved I will start translating the 500 most used system messages.
There's no portal for Riograndenser Hunsrückisch. I proposed for its creation on Community Portal, but actually they are not required to do that. :| --Midnight Gambler (talk) 10:08, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Riograndenser Hunsrückisch is now an approved language at Translate.net

edit
Hey Midnight Gambler, did you see that my new language request at Translate.net has been approved and the ticket has been closed?
Although, I did try and get started with the translation into Riograndenser Hunsrückisch but it still is not listed as one of the languages which can be translated into (it probably will take a little more time before it gets activated for translations, I guess).
Since I was given full translation rights at Translatewiki.net, I went ahead just now and created a Portal:Hrx there. -Paul

Hunsrik Wikipedia is now eligible

edit

Hi Bepp,

The Hunsrik Wikipedia request has now been verified as eligible by the Language Committee. Seeing as you are the user who made the request and you are a native speaker of Riograndenser Hunsrückisch, are you willing to revive the test project? It now stands a chance to be approved if the guidelines (translated interface, at least 3 active users per month) are fulfilled.
