Request at Meta-Wiki or not?

edit

I saw that you're contributing Egyptian Arabic Wikiquote, but it hasn't request page, would you please file a request at Meta-Wiki (just click create button on Wq/arz)? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 21:42, 16 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Egyptian Arabic projects

edit

Dear Redaking, I noticed that you have been recently contributing to the Egyptian Arabic Wiktionary proposal and also created Wikiquote pages.

Thanks for your time and contributions, but I noticed a political tone in your contributions, like the one about the president, which even looks half-way an article and half-way quotations, yet posted on Wiktionary! Even if I might share opinions with you, I never put them in my encyclopedic contributions, as Wikimedia projects must remain neutral.

I used to be very active in the past in the Egyptian Arabic projects and I'm still an administrator on the Egyptian Wikipedia, but I also noticed you changing the etymology of some entries, even though those etymologies were diligence by us, as many entries are hard to find a source for and others are clearly Arabic in origin, but you simply deleted the Arabic source and wrote that it was Egyptian. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 10:00, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please stop war-editing

edit

Please, stop war-editing, enforcing your opinionated contributions. The proposal for Wiktionary must be free from political overtones and personal opinions. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 10:24, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

This is a starting point to begin with, why your contributions aren't constructive: Wiktionary:What Wiktionary is not, from a sister project.
Your contributions are your personal opinions, rather than scientific contributions. You are engaging in war-editing as you dislike your personal opinions to be reverted. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 10:33, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
All of my contributions have the reason clearly stated on the edit summary, while you simply revert them, ignoring the reason for removing your passionate contributions. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 10:36, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

My older username

edit

Please, don't write on my older user talk page. The automated template Template:Wt/arz/NUMBEROFARTICLES changes the number of entries after a while and it is the most effective counter.

I don't enforce any personal opinions as you repeatedly slandered me. I am trying to ensure that the proposal of Wiktionary remains neutral and academic. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 11:25, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Mahmudmasri: There are some consistent warnings about improper behaviour you're giving Redaking. I don't understand much of the dispute, but could we try having both of you give me your sides of the dispute(s) see if they can be resolved? Thanks! Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 22:44, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Adding opinionated contributions and rejecting them from being reverted. Example وش /weʃ/ originating from /wɪʒh/ in dialectal Arabic, also shared in Levantine Arabic (Literary Arabic: /ˈwad͡ʒhu/). Another example is an opinion piece about the current president, and that template which is presented as legitimate quotes by celebrities, but they are simply his personal points of view, which was added to the main proposal page:
  • The number of people who understand Egyptian Arabic exceeds 422 million (reality: ~60 mil. natives, ~100 mil. Egyptians, other Arabic speaking people understand to varying degrees, but no source about that exaggerated claim of 422 million)
  • The language has 25 letters (linguistic terminology: 29 phonemes/sounds)
  • Arabic speakers understand each other only when they speak Egyptian Arabic (a made-up claim)
--Mahmudmasri (talk) 00:21, 5 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Other edit-warring pages? I've moved Wq/arz/عبد الفتاح السيسي to Wikiquote, and I hope Redaking and you can discuss and improve the neutrality of the article so that deletion wouldn't be necessary. I've also deleted Template:Wq/arz/انت تعرف؟ as out of scope.
Don't hesitate to ask if something goes wrong. I'd also like to hear Redaking's side, but I hope this works as a partial solution for now. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 02:03, 5 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Just saw your messages. Sorry, I don't know Arabic so I'm replying to Google's interpretation of what you said.
We can discuss the deletions here, and that is what we're doing! The contention with the "Did you know" is that it doesn't have anything to do with quotes. It does not matter whether the facts are correct. However, if that was the problem, it is best to give a source for a claim. redaking (talk) 07:39, 6 August 2019 (UTC)(Talkabout it|contribs) 23:13, 5 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
hi

"Did you know" in WIKTIONARY MASRY not in quotes Template:Wq/arz/انت تعرف؟

I wrote this article on the Wikinari, and

Mahmudmasri deleted it I wrote in a paragraph there are 400 million Arabs who understand the Egyptian language. The evidence for this is that they understand the songs and watch the films written in the Egyptian language without the translation of the bot. Objectively object to the number, incorrect and delete the article as a whole. The article have a many paragraph sexplain how to differentiate that the word is the origin of ancient Egyptian and escape from the Egyptian language of the Arabic language or the word origin Arabic He deleted the article because he is not convinced of a single paragraph

It is not right to delete an article without a discussion author of the article if a paragraph needs a source can be written in need of a source there is a discussion page for any page on the Wikinari can write and look

I see that the right article is just to object to a deliberate sabotage clause

the Template Template:Wt/arz/NUMBEROFARTICLES does Count the words automatic but we but the number of words manual the words become 250 I changed the number from 198 to 250 Mahmudmasri returned the old number I explained to him that this is a mistake and the number is changed manually, but he did not return the cancellation My edits see the history of Template:Wt/arz/NUMBEROFARTICLES plz

Thanks Ebe123 for your efforts.
As for Redaking, I'd rather write in English, because the Incubator is mainly administered by non-Egyptians. There's nothing new to say. When we clearly see something wrong, especially when amending clearly correct things, then normally we should revert the edits. The Arabic moʕgams (e.g. w:fr:Lisân al-'arab) aren't the same as contemporary etymological dictionaries. Also, there is evidence that there were different origins for contemporary spoken Arabic dialects, other than w:en:Classical Arabic which the moʕgams normally concentrate on. So, many words in Egyptian Arabic may have an Arabic origin (dialectal Arabic), but not mentioned in the moʕgams. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 13:11, 6 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't worry about the article counter, that's a silly thing. It would be too much work to keep track of how many pages there are manually after a while, but sadly there is nothing else than using PAGESINCATEGORY to make it automatic. Mahmudmasri has been updating the count by adding the category to pages. Seeing the history of the template, don't hesitate to ask me for help if you want to create templates!

I'll restore the page if you can show me that a "Did you know" like that is appropriate for Wikiquote. For the moment I am not interested in sources. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 02:50, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

hi Template:Wq/arz/انت تعرف؟ in WIKTIONARY MASRY not in quotes I wrote this article on the Wikinari Now I want undelete my article if you have an objection to a paragraph that i can modify

you should not delete any article without discussion

If the word does not exist in the old Arabic dictionaries and become present in the Arabic dictionaries in later times, it is a word that has no Arabic roots and moved to Arabic from other languages

redaking (talk) 04:38, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, the prefix should be "Wt/arz" then. I can't comment on the content of your paragraphs, but from other comments, the figure for the number of speakers should be revised. You shouldn't talk about another dictionary as you are creating one yourself! Also, words can be invented, so their non-inclusion in an old dictionary does not preclude them from having Arabic roots. Your signature

edit

Your signature (~~~~) has a little problem: You added an extra "d" to your talk page link ("Reddaking"; making it red. Please correct it in your preferences. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 22:48, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for correcting it! On another note, if you want to reach me on my talk page, please create a new section at the bottom of the page (the little "+" button). Easier to find new messages. Ebe123 (Talkabout it|contribs) 03:03, 7 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
