GILLBT yinɛ tʋʋmkanɛ ka Wycliffe Bible Translators nid yinne, onɛ da pin’ili tʋm nɛ Institute of African Studies bɛ University of Ghana yʋʋm tusir kɔbiswai nɛ pisyuobʋ nɛ ayi la ni (1962). Yʋʋm 1980, ba da maal la’aspaal ye dinɛ yʋ’ʋri an Ghana Institute of Linguistics (GIL) ye di tʋm tʋgʋs tuon. Yʋʋm tusir kɔbiswai nɛ pisnii nɛ ayi la ni (1982), ba da tiaki di yʋ’ʋri tis Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT).[1]

GILLBT da keŋ tuon nɛ nɔɔryinne kanɛ ba di mɔr nɛ University of Ghana la, zin’ikanɛ an Institute of African Studies (IAS), nɛ Institute of Adult Education, bɛ Department of Linguistics la, nɛ Language Centre. Linguistic and anthropological vɛɛnsbanɛ ka GILLBT dim maal la, IAS dimi ɛɛnti yisi di paalʋ.[2] GILLBT mɛ paas la’askanɛ an Wycliffe Global Alliance.[1]

GILLBT nyɛti di ligidi yitnɛ zin’is kɔn’ɔb kɔn’ɔb, nwɛnɛ nimbanɛ tisid piini nɛ la’asʋg nam kɔn’ɔb-kɔn’ɔb. Di mɛ lɛm paamid ligidi yit ban gɔsid saam gbɛɛnsa (guesthouses) dinɛ bɛ Accra nɛ Tamale la ka lɛn pirɛntit gbana.[3]
