Pages you have added here edit

Before you continue to add pages, we really need to discuss this. First, there are a few rules about how things work here that you really need to understand first.

  1. It is strongly discouraged—just short of effectively not permitted—to add pages without material content simply to encourage people to create new projects. I understand a very positive motivation to do this. But in practice, what ends up happening 99%+ of the time is that:
    • The pages sit here for years, looking like open projects (and requiring us to keep an eye on them), even though there is no real content there; or
    • The pages get in the way when someone wants to create real content.
  2. In a case like this, if you say that you, yourself will create content, we'll give you some time to start doing that. Then if you don't start creating content, we delete.
    • Similarly, if you say, "I work for Wikimedia Indonesia, and I'm setting up this test for people to come start creating a project," we'll give you some time. But then if there is no content, we delete.
  3. We strongly prefer that pages not be created until someone creating content in good faith comes along.
  4. Remember that pages copied from elsewhere, even sister projects, require attribution, or they are considered copyright violations and will be deleted.
  5. Though you haven't created Meta requests to this point, the same is true of Requests for new languages on Meta. If you can't write the language fluently, don't create a request.

Relevant to the above, it looks like you've created a bunch of pages that read like "Welcome to Project X. If you know anyone who speaks language Y, please encourage them to contribute." And then you've run them through Google Translate. Don't do this unless you really write the language well, and unless you are really going to create content.

Second, by the rules, I am supposed to assume good faith. But when you flat-out misrepresent yourself on your user pages, it's hard for me to do that. Your user page says, "I'm most active on English Wikipedia, Simple English Wikipedia, English Wikiquote, English Wikinews, English Wikivoyage, Meta-Wiki, MediaWiki, Wikimedia Incubator, Phabricator, and Translatewiki." I haven't gone to Phabricator or Translatewiki to check, but you have no edits on any of the other projects except Incubator and Meta. So I'm inclined not to assume good faith at all. Tell me why I am wrong about that.

You will remain blocked (except for your user talk page) until you respond to my questions. You are not yet blocked on Meta, but I will do that, too, if you participate inappropriately there without answering me here.

Sorry, I didn't know that. I won't create any more tests, and I was excited to use all of the wikis I mentioned on my userpage, but I can't find any articles to edit. I will change my userpage as soon as I am unblocked. Random Wikimedian (talk) 20:41, 4 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Info pages edit

This goes for adding infopages and changing infopages, too.
  • Where projects are coded with the two-letter ISO 639–1 code, it's unusual for us to need the soft or hard redirect from the three-letter ISO 639–3 code page, because it's unusual for people to be looking for projects that way. If we need one, it exists.
  • Similarly, if an infopage has something other than a single, simple template on it, you can assume there's a reason for that.
  • Ultimately, if I am the last editor on such a page, or if any other administrator here is the last editor, or if User:Liuxinyu970226 is the last editor, you should assume there is a reason the page looks like it does, and leave it alone.
In fact, for the time being, even when your one week block expires, you are "topic-blocked" from creating or changing infopages for one month. StevenJ81 (talk) 17:37, 11 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
