Welcome to Wikimedia Incubator! At the right there are some important links, and here are some tips and info:

  • If you haven't created a user page yet, please create one with for example Babel templates on it.
  • You can select your interface language in your preferences.
  • If you make articles, templates or categories, don't forget to add a prefix!
  • If your knowledge of English is good, you can help with translating pages to other languages you know, so more people can understand them!
  • If you want to translate the interface, please go to Translatewiki.net and follow their instructions.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them on Incubator:Community Portal.

Caviteño

edit

Hi How are you? I am glad to see that there is somebody willing to write in Caviteño. In order to create a Wikipedia, you need an ISO code, which for Chabacano is cbk. I don't think they will give you a separate code for creating a Caviteño Wikipedia as there is already one Wikipedia in Chabacano which is abandoned. I have tried to contact different speakers and managed to create an article using the translations they've provided me with (this is the Caviteño category I created). If you need help with wiki code or any doubt, please do not hesitate to contact me. Caro de Segeda (talk) 12:43, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Since Wikipedia decided to modify the code for Zamboangueño to cbk-zam, would the same be possible for Caviteño, let's say cbk-cav? There is indeed no code for the specific varieties so I understand if there is some difficulty setting up the incubator.
One initial concern I have with writing with cbk-zam is that the caviteño articles may be overwritten, but seeing there is a tag for caviteño variety, I may consider writing under the banner of cbk-zam. What do you think? LongganisaSeller (talk) 12:55, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nobody has written at the Wikipedia in Zamboangueño for ages, and if you are the only person writing, you won't ger the Caviteño Wikipedia approved, as you need to three people writing articles for a long period of time in order to get the Wikipedia approved. I suggest you to take advantage of the already existing Wikipedia, and just add the template on top indicating it is Caviteño. I think Zamboangueño and Caviteño are to dialectes of the same language, so there is no point in having a different Wikipedia. Caro de Segeda (talk) 14:07, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I expected that as well. Nonetheless I sent the idea to our group chat, and some expressed interested in writing, with someone already making edits to the existing articles. We will keep adding new articles, and hopefully it continues to the future. LongganisaSeller (talk) 14:28, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
