Incubator:Administrators' noticeboard

This is the page to request attention from test administrators, administrators and bureaucrats. Note what they can do.

Administrators can:

  • protect and unprotect pages
  • delete and undelete pages
  • delete images and other uploaded files
  • block and unblock users
  • edit the interface and other protected pages
  • use the built-in rollback functionality

Test administrators can do the same (except protecting and unprotecting pages), but only within their tests (therefore they cannot edit the interface).

  • Exception: As rollback is only appropriate to use in cases of vandalism, test-administrators can use that feature anywhere they see vandalism.

Bureaucrats can do all the above, as well as:

  • grant administrator/bureaucrat status
  • grant/revoke test-administrator status
  • grant/revoke bot flags
  • rename users [now mostly obsolete in favor of global accounts and unified login]

Note: Only Stewards may remove adminship or bureaucratship. If you want this to be done go to Requests for permissions at the Meta-Wiki.

If there is no response, you may wish to try the IRC channel, #wikimedia-incubator.

  • For deletion requests, use I:RFD for test deletions and {{delete}} for speedy deletions.
  • For user rights (admins, test-admins, bots, ...) or renamings, see I:A.

ISO 639-3 code

edit

Several languages have gotten their ISO 639-3 code but cannot create their wiki projects here: Hainanese (hnm), Leizhou Chinese (luh), Shaojiang Chinese (sjc), Southern Ping Chinese (csp), Northern Ping Chinese (cnp). el caballero de los Leones (talk) 03:33, 30 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

This can be changed when there are requests from the speakers of these languages. --MF-W {a, b} 12:38, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Unable to create new pages in the 'raj' Wikipedia incubator

edit

Hello,

I am able to successfully contribute to and add to existing articles in the 'raj' incubator Wikipedia. But, when I try to create an new article about a new topic, it gives me the following notices:

When I create the page: >> You are creating a new (prefixed) page called "Wp/raj/हिन्द-आर्य भासावां".

When I click publish after adding the relevant content: >> You are trying to create a page without a valid ISO 639-1 or -3 code. This code either is not valid or does not belong to a language accepted for new Wikimedia projects. If you came here from any other page, please return back and fix the link and then create the correctly named page. If by any chance this is blocking you from creating any page which you think has a valid ISO 639-1 or -3 code or belongs to an accepted language, please let administrators know.

I would love to contribute to help this incubator test project grow, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Milind Agarwal 01 (talk) 17:34, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I have created the test page Wp/raj/हिन्द-आर्य भासावां without any issues. I noticed that you've already created some pages under Wp/raj. If you continue to encounter the same problem, please let us know. -- (talk) 19:45, 4 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thank you for your message. I am still getting the same response. The steps I am taking are as follows:
1. I start with visiting https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/raj
2. Then, I simply add the name of the new page I want to create in the URL. For example, "https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/raj/गुजरात"
3. This takes me to a page that says "This page does not exist or it has been deleted. You can..." and I chose the option "create this page".
4. I am then taken to an editor that says on the top "You are creating a new (prefixed) page called "Wp/raj/गुजरात"."
5. Then, I type something in the text box. Let's say "test", then click "Publish Page"
6. I keep getting the same error: "You are trying to create a page without a valid ISO 639-1 or -3 code. This code either is not valid or does not belong to a language accepted for new Wikimedia projects. If you came here from any other page, please return back and fix the link and then create the correctly named page. If by any chance this is blocking you from creating any page which you think has a valid ISO 639-1 or -3 code or belongs to an accepted language, please let administrators know." @ꠢꠣꠍꠘ ꠞꠣꠎꠣ You're one of our adminships so you can create that page without problems, but for non-adminships this will need langcom members' review on whether Rajasthani is eligible for testing. Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 11:06, 5 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, what @Liuxinyu970226 says is correct. Macrolanguages are one of those gray areas where the language committee needs to decide; I see that there is already a discussion started on the page Liuxinyu links, so it is best to continue that discussion there. It will not be changed and I ask you to stop editing or creating pages in languages you don't speak, otherwise you will be blocked. --MF-W {a, b} 12:38, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I didn't have anywhere else to put this. Please, import the CSS file for Template:Test wiki to Incubator Plus 2.0. Thanks. wikipedia-kxeon  mailbox  contributions 20:23, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Ooswesthoesbes: Kxeon (talk) 14:55, 26 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Because the page is unprefixed, I can't actually import or edit it... I need to look into that. --OWTB (talk) 09:25, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I can't seem to find a way to circumvent this issue. As 2.0 uses the same mechanics as here, does anyone know how to create an unprefixed page? @User:MF-Warburg --OWTB (talk) 09:34, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
You might have to set the test-wiki in your preferences to (Maintenance). --MF-W {a, b} 13:41, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
That was a remarkably easy fix... Thank you! :) It is Done now. --OWTB (talk) 14:08, 27 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Moving the Serbo-Croatian Wikivoyage

edit

Hello! Following the discussion on the Community Portal, I believe the consensus is established to move Wy/hbs to Wy/sh. If that is the case here, the discussion can now be closed/concluded, with the following steps:

  • All Wy/hbs subpages (content) should be moved to Wy/sh without leaving a redirect.
  • The code page Wy/hbs shall redirect to Wy/sh.

Many thanks for considering my request, Aca (talk) 22:24, 25 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
