Good News!

The Request for Gan Wikipedia has been Conditionally Approved, therefore Gan Wikipedia is only one step away from creation. However, before the wiki can be created, the main interface messages must first be translated into the Gan language.

Here are the steps to do so:

• Step 1: Log-in to BetaWiki.
• Step 2: Join the Translators group to enable you to translate the interface messages. (This could be achieved by requesting User:Nike or to grant you membership).
• Step 3: Begin translating most of these messages into the Gan language (Apart from the following messages:
• common* (2)
• edittools
• exif-* (273)
• export* (7)
• feed* (2)
• import* (27)
• lock* (8)
• mainpagedocfooter
• mainpagetext
• metadata* (6)
• monobook* (2)
• pagetitle
• unlock* (6))

Once the translation is completed, Gan Wikipedia will be created.

gan at Betawiki

Hi Symane. You have done some translation work on the MediaWiki messages at Betawiki[1]. I was wondering if you were still going to work on them and if we should maybe commit the currently changed messages to Subversion so they will be used everywhere (f.e. here). Please let us know. Excellent work! You have done your part well. I will notify the Wikimedia Bureaucrats right now. It is only a matter of time before Gan Wikipedia is Approved and created by the system developers.

(NB: However it will probably take 'quite a while' before gan.wikipedia.org is created. for example, the translation of interface messages for Bikol Test-Wikipedia were completed on 4 October 2007, but it is now November 7th and bcl.wikipedia.org has not been created yet!). --Jose77 23:11, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Re:Gan Wikipedia's Logo

Hi Symane,

This is what the Gan Wikipedia looks like on my PC.

As you can see, the logo is identical to the old logo.

Therefore even though new Gan Wikipedia logos had been created later on, I do not see such new logos appearing on Gan Wikipedia (from my computer anyway).
