Lumucha ukucha: Thank you, that might be the one. - What about the reptiles? Are you sure suchuk is better than llukak wiwa? I found several hits for llukak wiwa or llukakwiwa. Which term should we use for the category? And is yakwallpa the best word for amphibian? -- CaTi0604 05:38, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

About the possessives
editHello,
As it's maybe the second or third time that I change that in your contributions, I'm not sure that you're aware that the possession in kichwa is not expressed as in southern quechua by adding the appropriate termination, but by using ñukapak wasi (my house), kanpak allku (your dog), paypak churi (his/her son) ñukanchikpak tayta (our father), kankunapak kiru (your tree), paykunapak misi (their cat). The version like in southern kichwa survives in words that have been "fossilised" since the early times of colonisation like Apunchik and, as it seems, as traces is some very archaic poetry (traditional lamentations etc.) but is basically not understandable in Ecuador. This is my opinion a pity because the quechua way of indicating possession by "conjugating" the noun is so elegant but that's the way it is...
--Awkiku 15:09, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, actually I am aware of it, but it is an automatism that I sometimes include the possessive endings since I think in Quechua way when I am writing here in Kichwa. As I have seen in text examples (including SIL publications), the border between Peru and Bolivia seems to be quite exactly the border for this grammatical structure. I have seen expressions like "ñukapak wasi" in Pastaza Kichwa of Ecuador and "wasini" in Pastaza Kichwa of Peru, which would be "wasiy" in Southern Quechua.

Serie Lingüística Peruana N° 52, Instituto Lingüístico de Verano (ILV/SIL), Lima (Perú) 2002. p. 26. wasini: mi casa, umayki: tu cabeza, ñawin: su ojo (de él, de ella), chakranchi: nuestra chacra, atallpankuna: sus gallinas (de ellos/ellas o de él/ella), turini: mi hermano.
- So thanks for your information, just correct errors whenever you see them. -- AlimanRuna 18:44, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- As mentioned in my discussion page, better replace -pak by -pa in my message above ! --Awkiku 09:26, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
