Feedback Request: Approval and Participation in Incubation Experiment

edit

Hello,

As part of an experiment proposed by the WMF Language and Product Localization team, which you can read about here, we have requested the Language Committee to approve your language project and help graduate it from the Incubator.

Through this experiment, we are interested in understanding the impact of modern wiki features (that Wikimedia wikis) have on the editing activity of users compared to when they were in the Wikimedia Incubator. Read the hypothesis statement here. There are no specific expectations for participation from editors of the approved language, other than wanting to know if your community has any concerns about being part of this experiment, about receiving approval at this stage, and if you will be open to continuing your community activities as usual over the next 3-4 months. Are there any concerns we should be aware of?

We would appreciate your response by September 16th. If we do not receive a response, the wiki will not be approved by the Language Committee. SSethi (WMF) (talk) 18:54, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello,
In February 2022, we started doing preparatory work on Translatewiki.net. Soon, the Incubator for the Pannonian Rusyn language was activated, and for two whole years we got to know the procedures of Wikimedia, Wikipedia, studied hard, consulted. Our community expanded in the second half of 2023 and at the beginning of 2024, since February, we have achieved stability in the process of writing texts, we have from 7 to 9 editors per month, more than 30-35 new pages per month and hundreds of edits per month.
We are working hard to expand our community with new editors.
Yesterday and today I consulted with members of our community and I can state that we, as a team, have no any concerns to being part of this experiment.
Our editors who diligently studied many procedures, rules, wrote texts, placed them in the Incubator and formatted them in accordance with the needs and routines of Wikimedia believe that during the year 2024 an obvious progress was achieved in our important work and that the quality of our texts confirms that our language can receive approval of this stage.
All editors agree that we will continue to work normally and at the same pace in the coming months in accordance with the highest criteria and requirements of Wikipedia.Keresturec (talk) 02:33, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the invitation to participate in the discussion on the proposal for our language project approval for the production wiki access. And also, thank you for choosing our language as one of the test wikis in the incubator.
Please note that our community has no concerns about being part of this experiment, as a matter of fact, we are very happy that our language project has been chosen as one of the participants.
As an editor, I can confirm that I will continue my community activities as usual over the period of next several months and, as part of this experiment, I will gladly provide any feedback, if required.
Therefore, we would be thrilled if the Language Committee could approve our language project at this stage and help graduate it from the Incubator.
Once again, thank you so much. Ruskinja2022 (talk) 23:06, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you all for your support and interest in participating in the experiment! I will inform the language committee that we have consensus from the community to proceed. As soon as I hear from them about the next steps, I will share more information. SSethi (WMF) (talk) 19:55, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ruskinja2022 and all, would it be possible for you to provide namespace translations? See this discussion. Thank you! SSethi (WMF) (talk) 19:37, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
