Balta adalah kota kecil berpenduduk 73 orang di Lakes and Gardens wilayah Dakota Utara yang berada di ketinggian 1.542 kaki.

Begitu dekat, namun begitu jauh: Balta terletak sekitar 16 mil di selatan dari pusat geografis Amerika Utara. Awalnya, kota itu bernama Egan, untuk menghormati Egan Pierce (seorang pejabat di jalur kereta api Soo Line). Kota dinamai oleh penduduk setempat dari Balta, daerah di Rusia Ukraina, rumah asli dari banyak pemukim imigran disini.
