About Okinawan language

The Miyako language is a language spoken in the Miyako Islands, located southwest of Okinawa. Miyako is a Ryukyuan language, most closely related to Yaeyama. Miyako is notable among the Japonic languages in that it allows non-nasal syllable-final consonants, something not found in most Japonic languages. It is not a dialect of Japanese or Okinawan. The Miyako language has been considered as seriously endangered by the UNESCO.
