Phyllis Bennell (nee Wallam) was married to Glen Bennell (dec). They are both Noongar speakers, as are their children.
Phyllis Bennell is co-author with her daughter Charmaine Bennell of the book Karda wer Noorn, a bilingual book in Noongar Bardalong wer English about how the snake got his beautiful colours. Nidja book is a story told to Charmaine Bennell wer her ngarngk Phyllis by the late Glen Bennell to whom the book is dedicated. [1]
