Ngarkal (Noongar LOTE),[1] Yoringkap (Kongal-boyal),[1] or Ngala (Djiraly)[1] is called in English the Kelp Gull. The scientific name for the sub species in Western Australia is Larus dominicanus dominicanus. The scientific name refers to the Dominican Order of friars, who wear black and white habits.
