A Perth suburb, Karawara is an Aboriginal word meaning 'green'. The name was approved as the suburb name in 1973.[1]
Alternatively it is derived from the Noongar words 'kar' (a crab) or 'kara' (a spider) wer 'wara' (meaning 'bad'). Hence 'Bad spider/crab'.[2]
