Djandjarak (Noongar LOTE and Djiraly) or Djerga (Kongal-boyal)[1] is called in English the Black-winged Stilt or Pied Stilt and its scientific name is Himantopus leucocephalus. Nidool-yorong maambakoort-ngat (birds we often see at the sea shore).
These birds pick up their food from sand or water. They mainly eat insects and crustaceans. The breeding habitat of all these stilts is marshes, shallow lakes and ponds. The nest site is a bare spot on the ground near water.
Its conservation status is: 'least concern'.
