The International Court of Justice issued a verdict on a case filed by Ukraine against Russia, refusing to rule on the shooting down of MH17 and rejecting Ukrainian claims for reparations from Russia. However, it found that Russia repressed the rights of ethnic minorities in Crimea after it unilaterally annexed the peninsula in 2014, failed to support the teaching of the Ukrainian language and offered "monetary and financial support" to separatists in eastern Ukraine.
