Advertising Wp/jam

Hi Yocahuna,

Looks like the jam wiki is in a development hole with a two-person-only community (you and User:Sandevaj).

Indo-European

Hi! Could you please create an article about the "Indo-European languages"?

The Indo-European languages are a family of several hundred related languages and dialects. There are about 445 living Indo-European languages, according to the estimate by Ethnologue, with over two-thirds (313) of them belonging to the Indo-Iranian branch.[2] The Indo-European family includes most major current languages of Europe, and parts of Western, Central and South Asia. It was also predominant in ancient Anatolia (present-day Turkey), and the ancient Tarim Basin (present-day Northwest China) and most of Central Asia until the invasion and migrations of Turkic speakers especially during the Mongol–Turkic conquest in the 13th century. With written evidence appearing since the Bronze Age in the form of the Anatolian languages and Mycenaean Greek, the Indo-European family is significant to the field of historical linguistics as possessing the second-longest recorded history, after the Afroasiatic family.

Well, the requirements for approval are complete translation of the most-used messages and continuous activity of 3+ users for at least several (3+) months. According to codelookup, at the moment 114 most-used msgs are not translated into Jamaican; and Wp/jam only had 2 editors with more than 10 edits in the last 2 months, and only 1 (you) so far in this month.

Population

I've seen you have translated population "papilieshan" in the template for Jamaican parishes and as "papiulieshan" in the one for countries. Which one shall we let as the correct one? --Katxis (talk) 15:40, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

papilieshan - i'm correcting as i come across them. Also making the parish names consistent once and for all, especially since you've moved on to the towns. The title of that page should have 'ina' instead of 'in'. BTW 'toun' also needs correcting to 'tong'. Don not translate "category" as it is part of the code of this Wikipedia. Be careful when you translate templates because then it has to be changed en every page in which they are used. --Katxis (talk) 15:50, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

Another thing, ‎Larisamakbiin has created Wp/jam/Arawak and Wp/jam/Taino. Your translation of the second one is "Tayino". Which one is correct? Maybe both? --Katxis (talk) 15:54, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

The standard spelling is Taino with an accent/stress on the 'i' so i think that Tayino reflects that sound more closely. --Yocahuna (talk) 16:00, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

I'm in the process of correcting the affected pages but i may not catch all the errors. The confusion has arisen because some were named in the mesolect and others in the basilect. I'm not surprised you're confused. I'm making them consistent with basilect.
