Welcome to Wikimedia Incubator!
At the right there are some important links, and here are some tips and info:
- If you haven't created a user page yet, please create one with for example Babel templates on it.
- You can select your interface language in your preferences.
- If you make articles, templates or categories, don't forget to add a prefix!
- If your knowledge of English is good, you can help with translating pages to other languages you know, so more people can understand it!
- If you want to translate the interface, please go to Translatewiki.net and follow the instructions.

- Hello Mbagnick97,
In response to your question re the article/template directionality from right to left, you can insert this at the top of every new page/template you create in Wp/nqo:
- <div dir="rtl" class="mw-content-rtl" style="text-align:justify;">
However in the long run, I recommend that they add a request at the Community Portal to enable all existing and new articles in Wp/nqo to have the right-to-left directionality by default in Wikimedia incubator. This has been done in the past for languages that have rtl writing. --Philip J (talk) 05:15, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
Vai incubator
editHi,
I can see that you are writing in the Vai incubator, and this is fantastic!
Are you the same person who wrote Wp/vai/ꖩꔱ ꗨꔓ, Wp/vai/ꔃꔷꕩꘋ ꕉꗐ ꗋꖺꗃ ꖱꗠ, and other Vai articles? If not, do you know who is it?
It's allowed to write anonymously in the Incubator, but it's much better to do it using a user account because it will be much easier to assess the activity level. Thank you! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 10:30, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Amir,
- Tombekai Sherman has been writing these at my request, based on their English equivalents to which we'd like to link. My role is in support of Tombekai's work, to bring the articles into the incubator. We'd like to find more participants who, even if their knowledge of the script is limited, could help in formatting or reviewing for consistency.

- Incredible, amazing, thank you!
- I don't know the language at all, but the script fascinates me.
- A couple of questions:
- Do you or any of your friends have trouble typing this script? I can make a keyboard for you that will be built into Wikipedia, so that no-one will have to install any software.
- Can anyone perhaps also start translating the software at translatewiki? If I understand correctly, you also know people who write in N'Ko, and they have been doing it very well there. I've just made sure that the Vai language is usable in translatewiki, so you can already start. One needs to create an account, and then go start translating the most used messages as the first step. I will be happy to help with the further steps. Please see this blog post for more guidance.
- Again, thank you. Your work is brilliant. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 20:33, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you, Amir! We have some input tools available, including Gboard and a picker by Richard Ishida. We don't have it built into transliteration utilities quite yet though, but we're working on getting something into CLDR and
- the International Components for Unicode (ICU) for that. Thanks for setting up translatewiki. I'll introduce that to Tombekai. We're working within the structure of a company I co-founded, called Athinkra, LLC. I would
- be happy to provide more disclosure where necessary but I don't mean for it to appear like advertising. His bandwidth for uploading is typically low where he is located.

Keyboard
editHi!
Continuing the previous conversation, I made a tool for typing Vai!
It is supposed to work on any laptop or desktop computer in a browser with JavaScript enabled. It doesn't require the installation of any software. It only requires clicking a couple of things in Wikipedia itself.
As of today, it works here in the Incubator and in translatewiki.
The instructions for enabling and using it are fully documented at mw:Help:Extension:UniversalLanguageSelector/Input methods/vai-transliteration.
I hope you find it useful. I made a few keyboard tools in the past, but this is one of the biggest and most complicated, so it's quite possible that I made mistakes. I'll be very happy to hear from you: Is it convenient? Are any letters missing? Are the key combinations easy to remember?
Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 17:45, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
Wikipedia logo
editHi!
Now that your Vai incubator is picking up steam, it's time to make a logo for it!
To make it, I'll just need a translation for the name "Wikipedia", and the tagline "The free encyclopedia".
"Free" must be in the sense of "freedom", not "zero dollars".
I'll dare to guess that the name "Wikipedia" is something like "ꔨꕃꔅꔵꕩ", but I might be totally wrong :)
Thanks! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 15:22, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
