Kabardian-Chircassian, Latgallian and Veps wikis

What we must to do for approval these wikis? Some users in Rus.Wiki ask me. As I see, the activity of Kbd and Ltg is positive, but Veps is still under "discussion", not still "verified"... So, ask, please=) Thanks--Andrijko Z. 06:02, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

wp/kbd is still lacking recognition as active wiki and its content has not yet been verified "with a reliable neutral source, such as a professor or expert". As the test is sufficiently active, it would be good if the contributors of the test could name an expert whom the Langcom could contact in order to verify the content. At the same time, it could be pointed out to the Langcom that the test wiki is "active" according to the requirements, and should be marked as such.
For wp/ltg, activity is already known to the Langcom, and now the content has to be verified - so same as above, it would be good if the test contributors know an expert the Langcom can contact.
Regarding the Veps request, it could be that the committee still wants to wait some time before verifying it as eligible - wait a bit, and if nothing happens, ask the committee to act upon it. --MF-W {a, b} 19:07, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you --Andrijko Z. 19:47, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
See wp/rue: It is only waiting on creation by the developers, see bugzilla:25924. Unfortunately creating new subdomains doesn't seem to be ranking high on developers' to do lists. It is only possible to wait until it will be created someday. (Until that happens, of course contributions on Incubator can continue!) --MF-W {a, b} 20:04, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
In the kbd-wiki rather high activity in April 2010. Maybe we should update meta:Language committee/Status/wp/kbd? I thought that this page can only update the administrators. Master Shadow 19:59, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think the same (about update)--Andrijko Z. 20:01, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
As I said, it should be pointed out to the Langcom that that status report should be updated. I see you already requested this, but nothing happened. I don't know who may update these "unofficial analyses". --MF-W {a, b} 20:04, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks again=)--Andrijko Z. 20:13, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

For wp/ltg we have some Latgalian experts (if I can say that), so what they should do? --Dark Eagle (runuot · devīņs) 21:30, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, where should contact an expert on language? Master Shadow 09:34, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
You can contact the m:Langcom or only one of its members and ask them what is hindering the final approval of Latgalian Wikipedia and if it's the lack of "a reliable neutral source, such as a professor or expert", tell them that you can know some they could contact to verify that the wp/ltg test is really containing Latgalian content. --MF-W {a, b} 22:01, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Incubator:Requests for deletion

Hello, can you have a look at this page: Incubator:Requests for deletion. I've seen no administrator looked back since March 2010. Thank you! --Danutz 15:46, 18 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sure, expect some decisions there soon. --MF-W {a, b} 22:14, 18 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I've seen you deleted the Moldovan Incubator, but something fishy happened: The user moved the incubator to Wp/mol, so I think that should also be deleted. Please also protect (if that is allowed) this pages: Wp/mo and Wp/mol. Maybe putting a notice in the pages might help, because otherwise I think we delete it now, and in a while the user recreates it. Anyway, I wrote to the user informing him about the deletion. Have a nice day.--Danutz 16:15, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I deleted the wp/mol pages, prevented recreation of wp/mo(l) pages, and added some notes there that people can go to Romanian Wikipedia. Regards --MF-W {a, b} 20:30, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikilajme

--[[User:|MF-W]] {a, b} 21:18, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Alles klar danke für die Antwort. --Mikullovci11 12:48, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
--MF-W {a, b} 21:04, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regarding To The Deletion Request

Hi there. Sorry I was not available for a relatively long period. Apparently somebody thru an Ip had wanted Southern Kurdish entries to be deleted. I see nothing "MİSTAKE"n in those entries and I am curious to know what mistakes a user with Turkish keyboard (as the bold "İ" above reveals) finds within them. Thank you. (Programmier)Hilfe bei Chinese Mandarin Wiki Interlinear-Text/Version

Hallo, bitte schau Dir mal mein Posting an: Interlinear version would be useful

--MF-W {a, b} 20:24, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

why did you do that

okay what is wrong with a wikipedia that uses images and sounds instead of words blind and people with no written language could benefit from it --Rancalred 19:10, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I guess you refer to the deletion of wp/zxx? Well, zxx is not a valid code, as it is defined as "No linguistic content". Apart from that, there was no info on the info page except "NOS" (with no explanation what that is). --MF-W {a, b} 20:33, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

About your suggestion on popes in the Livonian Wikipedia

Thank you for your suggestion. I have been planning to write the article Wp/liv/Rōma pōpst all along, currently just considering what to include in the first place. Some popes, like Innocent III, have had a larger impact on Livonian history than others. I think I will get to writing the article sometime this week or next week. -- Ohpuu 07:52, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Request for new languages

Good day, I created Requests_for_new_languages/Wikipedia_Micmac and added it to the table on Requests_for_new_languages on MetaWiki three days ago, but there isn't any word since then. Is there a place where I have to put the announcement of the creation of this request page or am I just in a rush ? Amqui 19:19, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

You're in a rush :-) You won't get many comments on a Requests for new languages, except if there is a large group of people who like to express their joy about a proposal very much (but that won't help the approval in any way). It may take some time until the Langcom verifies the project to be eligibile, but I don't think there will be any problems with that. --MF-W {a, b} 19:38, 31 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Interwikis

Is there any problem with including interwikis on the articles in the incubator ? Amqui 22:38, 5 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, but you have to take care for non-Wikipedia tests, as every language link from Incubator is treated as going to Wikipedia, even for Wiktionary and other tests. --MF-W {a, b} 23:01, 5 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

testing Rangi wiktionary wt/lag

Moin. Oder was würdest Du mir raten? --Baba Tabita (talk) 19:23, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Baba Tabita (talk) 19:57, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ja, also. Freut mich.
--Baba Tabita (talk) 16:10, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

"My sandbox" link and help link

The origin of this problem is discussed at the Wikipedia Village Pump, where I first posted it.

  1. I logged in to Wikimedia, thinking I was using the secure login to Wikipedia (en).
  2. My user page had a "My sandbox" link on the top; I didn't put it there.
  3. When I clicked on it, I got an error message, "Error: This page is unprefixed!"
    • That's Problem A: Why is a new user given a link that produces an error message? If a new user automatically gets a User page and a User Talk page and a "My Sandbox" link, he should also automatically be given a Sandbox page that the link will take him to.
  4. The word "unprefixed" was linked. I clicked on the link.
  5. That took me to the Wikipedia:Help page.
    • That's Problem B: The link should be specific, not "Welcome to our huge help space. You're on your own. Good luck, you'll need it."
    • Hoping to find something useful, I searched for "Sandbox".
    • The page had a disambiguation header:
      {{Selfref|For the Wikipedia feature, where anyone can experiment with editing Wikipedia pages, see Wikipedia:Sandbox or Wikipedia:About the Sandbox.}}
  6. I clicked on Wikipedia:Sandbox
  7. That had the very useful text:
If you have registered an account you can find or create your own user sandbox here. For future easy access, you can put {{tl|My sandbox}} on your userpage.

And that, or something like it, is what should be implemented in the user's page header, if you're not going to fix Problem A by providing the sandbox in the first place. But, for my 2¢ worth, it'd be a lot better

  • to create the user's sandbox automatically and give him a working link, than
  • to give him a bad link and tell him how to add a good one to his user page.

And since the link IS in the header of every page I look at--

Thnidu My talk My preferences My watchlist My contributions Log out

-- it's not just a matter of editing the user page, but the user header. Yes?

--Thnidu (talk) 05:17, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Partly. Here on Incubator, we don't provide a "My sandbox" link in the header. I've now changed the link in the unprefixed error messages, which indeed should go to a more specific page. -- I see your problem with the secure server redirecting you from Wikipedia to Wikimedia Incubator has already been solved on en: --MF-W {a, b} 05:36, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

:-) Viele Grüße --Geitost (talk) 02:24, 25 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Request about the Talysh Wikipedia

Dear Warburg,
We decided to make an appeal to you with one request. For your information, we are currently working on Wikipedia in Talysh Language. The problem we face right now is the issues regarding the script. Right now, Talysh Wikipedia is registered with Cyrillic script. I would like to inform you that, majority of Talysh people living in Azerbaijan use Latin script, as the Latin script is officially accepted by the Republic of Azerbaijan since the alphabet change from Cyrillic to Latin immediately after the Soviet Union's collapse and the country's independence. Now in all schools of Azerbaijan Latin Alphabet is in use and young generation of Talysh people are not able to read Cyrillic alphabet completely. This Talysh Wiki will be followed mostly by young people and if they cannot read Cyrillic script, they will not be able to benefit from the knowledge which Wikipedia ensures. So it's very pity. But the Talysh people of old generation and as well Talyshes who live outside of Azerbaijan can read Latin alphabet. New Talysh alphabet is designed for use in Talysh texts, according to the phonological requirements of this language. So, the the situation is that, the most Talysh people live in Azerbaijan in their Homeland and use Latin alphabet. Talysh people who live in Iran use Persian script and Talysh people who emigrated to Russia use Cyrillic alphabet. But both of them, people who live in Iran and Russia can read Latin alphabet for sure, but the case is that, the young people who live Azerbaijan cannot read Cyrillic alphabet, they only can read Latin. As the majority of Wikipedia readers will be young people from Azerbaijan, they need Latin script for Talysh Wikipedia. So, we would like to ask you kindly to help us with this issue to add Latin script for Wikipedia in the Translatewiki alongside with Cyrillic 'tly' => 'толышә зывон', # Talysh. We would like to have: 'tly' => 'толышә зывон/tolyšə zyvon', # Talysh. So it means to add Latin script use for Talysh language alongside with Cyrillic in this link: http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/phase3/languages/Names.php?annotate=102460#l339 We would suggest to have 3 scripts in use in order to ensure readability for all users of Talysh Wikipedia and to escape any problem that can occur. We consider this is to be the best solution for this problem. We mean like this: 1. 'tly' => 'tolyšə zyvon', # Talysh(Latin) 2. 'tly' => 'толышә зывон', # Talysh(Cyrillic) 3. 'tly' => 'زبان تالشی', # Talysh(Persian) As we know this is in use for Qırımtatarca, Kazakh, Tatar and Serbian Wiki, I mean Latin and Cyrillic scripts. If this is not possible for Talysh Wiki, we would like to ask you to help us in doing it only in Latin , because Latin is readable for everybody (Talysh people who live in Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Europe) but Cyrillic is readable only people who live in Russia, not readable for the people outside of Russia. The person who opened Talysh Wiki suggested it in Cyrillic, because he lives in Russia. But we talk to him and he agreed to add Latin or to change it completely to Latin. We just want Azerbaijani Talysh people who use Latin, to benefit from Wikipedia's knowledge. As well, we wonder whether it is possible to do tly-cyrl and tly-latn for both scripts. If it is possible, it would be very useful for both alphabet users. This issue is very important for Talysh people who live in Azerbaijan and we will be very happy if you could help us with this issue. Thank you very much for your attention!

Gurkha Wikipedia

I have requested to start new wikipedia in Gorkha language which is known Gurkha or gokhali language or khus kura. Actually it is Nepali language which is written in Devanagari script. Now a days the language, unofficially, is being written in Latin script in some parts(i.e. In Bhutan, Myanmar as there is no provision of teaching devanagari script) and it used by large no of young people. In fact gorkha language is (Latin version) of Nepali language. Would you pl help to request to get iso code or use the same code of Nepali for this Latin version. Na'vi Wikipedia

Hi, I would like to create the Na'vi Wikipedia, and I can't create Wp/Na'vi because this the title is unprefixed. But, the na'vi has no language code and the request for a language code to the na'vi language was rejected in february 2012. So, because you're an administrator, can you allow the prefix "Na'vi" or "Navi" please ? Thank you very much for your quick answer. Ĉiuĵaŭde (talk) 13:18, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I can't, see also my answer at Incubator:AN#Na.27vi_language. It is necessary to have an ISO code. See also I:PREFIX. Best regards, --MF-W {a, b} 13:27, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
This is official decision, we cannot create the Wikipedia in Na'vi. I speak few words in Na'vi and the administrators do not want to have test wiki of language with no language code here. Delete that and that, please. I lost a lot of time of my life, and it's so bad. Ĉiuĵaŭde (talk) 14:09, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have deleted them. Please note that it is not merely a question of the wishes of Incubator administrators - as Na'vi has no ISO code (and is a constructed language that is hardly used), the Language Proposal Policy criteria of Wikimedia don't allow it. Please don't be discouraged, there are many other opportunities to contribute in Wikipedias. --MF-W {a, b} 14:15, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

--Μαρτῖνος ὁ Νέος (talk) 18:29, 5 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ich habe auf m:Talk:Language_committee/2012#Ancient_Greek_Wikipedia auf Englisch einige der Argumente zusammengefasst: Some members were in favour of making an exception from the policy here, and some not. There are good reasons for both opinions, but please note that most prominently, having a Wikipedia in these languages does not help to fulfill Wikipedia's goals, because the absence of a Wikipedia in these languages does not exclude anyone from "freely sharing in the sum of all knowledge". The fact that Latin Wikipedia exists is not of importance here, because it was created before the policy existed. Besides, it was also noted that regarding the current state of the test wiki, it is doubtful whether it would be verified by a linguistic expert as written in genuinely Ancient Greek.. --MF-W {a, b} 15:50, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request

Dear MF-Warburg,

Let me first introduce myself. I am an Iranian Azerbaijani, and currently the speaker of the Arbitration Committee (ArbCom) in the Persian Wikipedia.

I am currently active in a test wiki in here. Unfortunately, I found one of the test admins in this project, not neutral. He keeps on pushing his own point of view in some critical articles. He has nationalistic views, and his heart is full of hatred. So hereby, I oppose him to be a test admin. And I request to remove his right, as he is NOT eligible at all. In my opinion, he is very harmful for the test project.

On the contrary, There are two other test admins in that project who are really good, regarding Wikipedia's policies.

Hi dear MF-Warburg. He (In fact) originally had a problem with this article name in South Azerbaijani languge. Hi is trying to impose their opinion in unusual ways. For example to impose her personal view in Az.wikipedia, he wrote in Fa.wikipedia [2]. After fa:کاربر:Mardetanha and az:İstifadəçi:Wertuose were meeting in Wikimania 2012. Then the conversation outside of wikipedi, while the discussion is in progress [3], these changes occur [4] [5]. While Wertuose is not present at all in this discussion. I have explained this problem here.))) And now he (In fact) continues his quest here. I wish I could explain it well. Thank you.--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 09:51, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just to remind you that User:Mardetanha is a steward. He is a very respected Iranian Azerbaijani. I did ask him to stop User:Ebrahimi-amir.
Fortunately, before Mardetanha wants to do anything, one of the admins in Az.wiki stopped you. But now in this test project you are a test admin, and you are doing whatever you want. This can not continue. Someone needs to stop you. In fact (talk) 10:01, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just to remind you that No one (steward or Arbitration Committee speaker) has the right to abuse their authority to do. And wikipedia is their own problem solving process.--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 10:17, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Indeed ! That's why I wanted to solve the problem the easy way, rather than the hard way. In fact (talk) 10:32, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi there. I am an Iranian Azerbaijani (from East Azerbaijan) and a former admin in the Persian Wikipedia. I agree with In fact's comments. Ebrahimi-amir is acting like a dictator in our test project and does not accept other users ideas. He is abusing his admin right. I believe if you remove his admin right, it will be good for the Wp/azb project. Thanks. --Elmju (talk) 14:47, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Greetings to you all. Do I understand it correctly that your matter of disagreement is the title of this article; so, about the body of water known as en:Persian Gulf in the English Wikipedia?
Additionally, In fact and Elmju, could you please explain where Ebrahimi-amir took actions here where he abused his test-admin rights against you and your contributions? --MF-W {a, b} 18:08, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Pardon for interruption , but as I'm not familiar with the process of choosing admins in Wikimedia Incubator , I have to ask does a history of ultra-nationalistic edits and constant arguments in other Wikis per se is considered as a problem for being elected as an admin in Incubator? --Alborz Fallah (talk) 19:43, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please see Incubator:Administrators/Archive/Test adminship 2012#Ebrahimi-amir (Wp/azb) for the request of Ebrahimi-amir to become test-admin for Wp/azb (note that there is a difference between admins and test-admins, which you can read about here). At that times, no concerns about him were raised. --MF-W {a, b} 19:46, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
This is (Fa-wiki friends gathered here to remove the imaginary enemy)the "easy way"[6] to solve hard problems!--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 19:58, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dear MF-Warburg,

As you know, currently there are 3 test admins in wp/azb. Please kindly have a look at the history of the Persian Gulf article. The other admin ( E THP ) started the article under the correct name and content. But suddenly User:Ebrahimi-amir moved the page to the wrong name !!!. When I corrected the mistake, again he reverted me and moved the page to the wrong name. After that he abused his right as an admin and gave me a warning !!!

If you look at the article's talk page, everybody is against him. ( including the other 2 test admins ) As we are all discussing with him, again he abuses his admin right for the second time : and gives me a second warning!!! and threatens to block me !!!

His actions are all against Wikipedia's guidelines. He is anti-Persian. He is even Allergic to the word itself (Persian) !!! He in not neutral at all. He can not be an admin. as He is not eligible to be one. See, for instance, in another article when I deleted a map that was unsourced and has no relation with pan-farsism. He reverts me and when I ask him for a reason. He simply runs away!!! That map is for Pan Iranism and has nothing to do with Pan-farsism. I asked him to bring a source for the map. But he did not. ( Before I forget, we usally use the revert botton to undo vandalism. I think this test admin does not know this simple rule.)

In another article, (en:Fascism) , He pushes to use a link to pan-farsism. I asked him (easy way) , please stop this kind of behavior in the article's talk page. But again he does not listen to my advice.

Dear MF-Warburg, this test admin is not eligible. Please kindly remove his right. As there are many users opposing him to be a test admin. Not to mention that those who are opposing him here and in the discussions are all Azeris. ( not Persian ). In fact (talk) 11:15, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Indeed this seems a bit abusive to threaten you with a block and to disrespect consensus by the other editors. --MF-W {a, b} 18:31, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Dear MF-Warburg; My user name in Persian Wikipedia is Elmju and in Azeri-Wikipedia is Elmaxtar. I am the first of those who expressed support for the test-Administration of Ebrahimi-amir. but his actions caused me to go back to fa-wiki and use Elmju account! Our problem with Ebrahimi-amir is not only about the name and history of the Persian gulf; He is interested in destroying the name and history of Azerbaijan cities, against the majority of Iranian and international scholars. He supports the idea of Pan-Turkism. Ebrahimi-amir does not accept other users ideas and he thinks that he is the only one who knows the best! He thinks that he is the law-book and all of the researchers in the world are liars! --Elmaxtar (talk) 11:33, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note

I'm so sorry but I should inform you that Elmju (also Elmaxtar-other account of Elmju) use hate speech here[7] with E_THP, with me(=Arjanizary) here[8], with Ebrahimi-Amir here[9]. I always want to make him calm (See my talk page, after he used such bad words I call him with good words). In taht time, I wish he became calm but he doesn't. I don't care to his bad words about me, but when I see he does this work everywhere and toward everybody.
Note: His admin rights in Persian Wikipedia removed because of his hate speech[10]. As I menthined he lose his temper very quickly and write anything he wants to everybody. Please read what he does against other users. Regards. --Arjanizary (talk) 20:18, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, sorry, but unfortunately I do not know the Azerbaijani language, so I can't understand it. You already know that user Elmju and Elmaxtar were blocked by E THP? --MF-W {a, b} 20:36, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
He said that E THP drank wine! and he(=E THP) doesn't understand what he do. He named E HTP pan-Turk. He write in persian.
At first he come wiki he change sth, I said please stop, it's according to some rules that is under discussion, it's better not to change it. Then he said that I don't understand. I make him calm and that time I think it's a simple problem. If you refer to that link to wiki-fa you see that he threat the other user that because he doesn't accept his(=Elmju) opinion, he annoys him. His faults menthined there.

I (2 times) Ebrahimi (2 times) and E HTP remind him to stop such thing. These occurred in short time. It's not just about Persian Gulf article. He changes something against South Azerbaijani grammar and accepted rules. I think He(=E HTP)'d beeter ask you to block him, but Elmju use so bad words about him. Thanks --Arjanizary (talk) 20:57, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

HI, There is no hate speech and that is fraudulent charge . Ebrahimi Amir, Amir57, EHTP and possibly Arjanizary (not sure) are all part of the same group of ethno-nationalist users running basically a mafia style gang. It is the same users that came to vote for Ebrahimi amir not to be reprimanded. Thee first three Ebrahimi Amir, Amir57, EHTP have been blocked several times in Persian wikipedia for pushing ethno-nationalistic nonsense and sites that have no credibility. Amir 57 recently got blocked in Persian wikipedia for racially abusing Kurds. Basically, they are running an ethno-nationalistic gang group. Users do not get blocked for being SPA for no reason in English Wikipedia or get blocked in Persian wikipedia multiple types. There is underlying behavior due to ethno-nationalistic type editing and that is why these users cause trouble and are trouble. The block against Elmju is absolutely illegal and EHTP needs to be reprimanded as well. These users are just abusing their power. Please unblock Elmju so that he can explain it better himself. I have no doubt that if both sides are able to present their point of view, the abusers here will get reprimanded. Thank you. --Khodabandeh14 (talk) 02:12, 17 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

About "easy way group"

Hi dear MF-Warburg! I want wright about "easy group". Who are they? What is their purpose?

Ladsgroup, Khodabandeh14, In fact, Alborz Fallah, Elmju and others who are not present here.

Elmju write that a administrator of faWiki has recommended him for something based on a certain map. And he try for greate Iran.[11]. Khodabandeh14 distort resource to achieve a specific objective [12]. He removed parts of a text, others are accused of lying. "the villages in which the inhabitants speak Persian, one sees villages in which the people speak Turkish, and many Persian cities, such as Tehran or Shiraz or Qazvin or Hamadan, are surrounded on all sides by Turkish villages or tribes ; indeed, the people of the latter two cities undestand both languages and speak both of them".

In fact writes about meeting with en:Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh about article name.

Who is Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh? He believes that:

"Sometimes we hear some dire things from Azerbaijan that shows the influence of Pan-Turkism ideas. Some people say that the lessons should be taught in Turkish language in Schools of Azerbaijan region. This shows the spreading of racist thoughts. Don't these people ask from themselves that in which multi-ethnical country, teaching in states are done in local language? That Iran should be the second?" Ettelaat newspaper, 1377/10/22, No. 22106

M.Afshar (he is one of the founders of Pan Iranism) believes that:

"...But by talking of completing national unity, we mean that the Persian language should be widespread in all country, local differences in clothes, ethics and other aspecs, should be wiped out and the Federation system have to be completely destroyed. Kurds, Lurs, Qashqays, Arabs, Turks, Turkmens and others must not have any differences, they must not wear different clothes and talk in different languages...

... So we all must want and try that the Persian language become widespread in all country and replace outsider languages...

... We can move some persian-speaking people to the outsider-speaking regions and reside them there in villages and in exchange move the outsider-speaking people of there to persian-speaking regions. The geographical names that are remnants of outsider languages and the invasions of Genghis khan and Timur, must be changed to Persian names." M. Afshar, Our first wish: Natianal unity of Iranians, Ayandeh, 1 (Khordad 1304)

en:Jalal Al-e-Ahmad describe these ideas:

"But they don't have the right to speak in their mother tongue on Art, Culture, Public media and Communications sections. They have to use Persian. This mean that the use of their mother tongue in Schools, Radio, TV and other Media and on governmental messagings are forbidden. From the beginning of this hijri century onwards, the regime of Tehran tried to make the people of all country look alike... and now it's been more that forty years that all efforts of all governments are focused on wiping out Turkish language; they named it 'Azeri', a forced language."

You can read more information in "Iran and the Challenge of Diversity: Islamic Fundamentalism, Aryanist Racism, and Democratic Struggles." Alireza Asgharzadeh, Palgrave Macmillan, May 15, 2

Accordingly, I think that this group is trying that the wp/azb project (that is written in a language South Azerbaijani), weaken or abrogate. With respect--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 16:23, 18 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ebrahimi-amir is right. This group focused in particular article or particular user. Does not seems that the purpose of this group is to improve Wikipedia. We shouldn't forget that the problems of POV pushing that I have already mentioned, still exist in our test wiki project, such as calling a group of people as fascists, while this mentioned group is not even recognized by the international project. and the other problems that I really don't want to mention them again. Sadly, they all still exist. In fact (talk) 04:55, 20 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

New Wikisource creation question

Hi, I'm interested in launching Javanese Wikisource as a standalone project. Now, from what I know creating a new Wikisource is somewhat different from creating other projects. What are the requirements to launch meta:Requests for new languages/Wikisource Javanese? It used to have a strong community but dwindled due to slow response from the language committee. There are many Javanese text in public domain (the language have the most written documents compared to other languages in Indonesia, bar the national language itself, dating several centuries back, even before the "creating" of Indonesian language, Javanese language is the most widely spoken/written language in the East Indies), so there won't be any problem in finding any texts (see argument in favour #1). Is the notice on the top of the page still stands? "The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page." or is there other requirements? It leaves me wonder that for 4 years no one from the language committee bother to look at old request, even to ask how is it doing [17]. Bennylin (talk) 14:28, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, indeed the activity that was there in 2008 was quite good. Because I was not yet in Langcom in 2008, I am not familiar with why there was no approval back then. However, I do notice that the main activity seems to have concentrated in 3 months, and all was mainly done by one user only. This could've been a factor that it was not approved.
It is indeed true "that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy". The newer version of the template (visible e.g. here specifies It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months. For Wikisource, these requirements can at times be taken a bit lighter, because Wikisource texts e.g. require less updating than Wikipedia or Wikinews.
If there would be activity again I'd be most glad to propose the approval of jv.wikisource in Langcom.
However I would like to add that in my opinion, Wikisource languages on www.wikisource.org have a great advantage (to e.g. test-wikipedias on Incubator): Because www.wikisource does not require prefixes like we do, it should be easier accessible & editable already for new users. Maybe also the advice on m:Talk:Language_committee#Javanese_Wikisource could be taken into account to use the ProofreadPage function for adding content? --MF-W {a, b} 22:54, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Here's a list from third party website of the texts in Javanese language http://masbei.staff.fs.uns.ac.id/2010/05/04/katalog-ysastra/, about 6.000 documents and 15 million words that have been digitized. One of Javanese first encyclopedia in 1898 numbered 1.930 pages, so you can imagine the amount of knowledge available in the form of old documents. I'm sure it would have more content than, say, recently approved Wikisource Assamese. Could someone from the langcom comment on the page? I'm currently also working on making Javanese script available in Wikimedia projects so that it can aid this proposal. Please support this proposal in the future. Bennylin (talk) 12:32, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your response. I will try to find others contributors to the project. It's still preferable to be an independent project, because of the wealth of documents and other benefits of a standalone project. (such as community, interface, robot, etc.) ꦩꦠꦸꦂꦤꦸꦮꦸꦤ꧀ Bennylin (talk) 11:55, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have no doubts that the project can have a lot of content and be useful. It's just that we require that there be active contributors when it is approved to ensure that the own wiki will not fall into inactivity :) --MF-W {a, b} 15:35, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree with you there and would indeed try to find old and new contributors for the project. But as for the measurement itself ("ensure ... not fall into inactivity"), doesn't the committee at least learn from experience that the number of active users while in Incubator doesn't guarantee once its out from it? Moreso for non-Wikipedia projects. For example meta:Wikisource#List of Wikisources sorted by number of active users (most of them are bots and global patroller anyway). It is better to have one committed user rather than dozens of uncommitted ones (I'm ready to be the former). Also, from personal experience with Indonesian and Wiktionary, people started to coming in and contribute after there's content for them to read and edit, because truth be told, the barrier entry for new users here to create new articles (i.e. in Wikisource or Wiktionary using wiki format) is rather high, and time and cost-wise can only be afforded by very few people. Just sharing another interesting fact: en:List of languages without official status. Bennylin (talk) 16:36, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Also, still on the subject of possible inactivity of any given project out of Incubator, "inactivity" itself is not a valid reason to close a project, thus the reason there are so many inactive projects, yet have a lot of pagecount, right now. Therefore, I was wondering, what does the langcom have against possible future inactivity, which, as I said above, is a matter of fact once it is outside the "honeymoon" phase in Incubator. I could, theoretically, ask people to be active for several weeks/months, knowing that they wouldn't be as active anymore in this project afterward, just to get the project out. Nobody can guarantee any project will maintain at least 3 (or any other number) of active users at any time in the future. Bennylin (talk) 16:47, 31 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree with you that a small number of committed users is better than lots of users who just fly by, and that it is easier for new users to contribute on an own wiki, than Incubator or BetaWikiversity or www.wikisource; and indeed the committee also takes such things into account. By no means do we want to require that you need to have a large number of editors before. — Indeed you are right that the activity can easily be "faked" to start a project. Likewise it cannot be guaranteed that a number of users will stay active in the future. But nevertheless we would like to have a minimum number of users (2? 3?) who are active initally, (of which we of course hope that they will stay active) to build some content on which users who appear later on the own wiki can base (as you mention above). --MF-W {a, b} 19:10, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Jamguides imports to Wikivoyage

Hi - at Incubator:Wikivoyage_import, you mention importing content. This needs to be done very carefully - when it was done on the pt and es wikivoyage editions, for instance, it was done without attribution. That's a violation of the cc-by-sa license. So we need to really think this through... Philippe (WMF) (talk) 00:06, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

This astonishes me very much that you say it happened without attribution - attribution is of course very important and the main reason of doing an import (instead of e.g. simple copy-paste actions). And therefore on pt and es wikivoyage I have always imported the full history, e.g. [18]. --MF-W {a, b} 00:12, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
There is a discussion about this in the Travellers' Pub on English Wikivoyage. There, the example of voy:pt:Dallas was given. See here [19], only JAMBot seems to appear in the page history. Globe-trotter (talk) 22:48, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Oh, that was a fail of the exporting tool that sometimes occured. I actually thought I had fixed all those (example); I have now done that for the Dallas page as well. Are there any more? --MF-W {a, b} 23:03, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Will you please tell me how to get it ? - Shubha (talk) 09:37, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

It seems to me that this might be an error which needs to be fixed by a software maintenance script. I will look into it and inform you if I add a bugzilla request to fix it. --MF-W {a, b} 10:59, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Question about Wikivoyage Ukrainian request

Hi MF-Warburg! Thank you for bread crumb. We'll test it soon. I have a question about request. We need to fill "Enable uploads" field in the request. Which possibilities do we have - the answer should be only "yes" or "no", or we can use something like "yes, but for admins and uploaders group only" (you can see that WP editors are choosing such version at our Project Talk page). Voll (talk) 19:49, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it's possible to request it like that. --MF-W {a, b} 22:12, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikivoyage importing

Don't take this as a criticism; I'm just wondering: isn't the importing over at the Polish Wikivoyage taking an inordinately long time to finish? Why is this? Do you forsee the Romanian Wikivoyage taking a similar amount of time? I ask because I was waiting until these imports were finished to announce the opening of the wikis at Wikimedia News. Should I not be waiting? - dcljr (talk) 05:01, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it's taking a bit longer than what is usual and actually acceptable, but there are ca. 2700 pages to import for pl in total so that is taking some time. Romanian will not take so long because there are only 600 pages import. I think it's right not to announce the opening until the import is finished, which will hopefully be today (I should have the time for that). --MF-W {a, b} 10:58, 15 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
It was anounced on incubator it (ro and pl) was open (for editing) long before the articles were imported. Maybe they should not do that way. Any way thanks for doing the job. Carsrac (talk) 16:39, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

User page

Hi dear MF-Warburg! Can each user write anything on his user page?--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 17:36, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

No; spam, libel, and generally content which is unrelated to the Wikimedia projects should be avoided. --MF-W {a, b} 22:58, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi again and thank you for your answer. I'm still unexplained. Can write misinformation (like the In fact block), contempt for others (without being able to defend the same place), indecency and ets in user page? Are these actions related to the goals of Wikipedia projects? Can administrator or users remove the content like this from user pages?--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 04:52, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think blocking a person because of his writhings in his own user page is an example of power abuse and intolerance . I can give an English translation if it is in need . If other side thinks my translation is not valid , I can ask others to translate it . Although the Google Translator gives a broken translation , but it is still obvious that I did not write something out of norms in that page. Tolerance and open mindness are basic needs of being an admin in Wikipedia. --Alborz Fallah (talk) 10:08, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
@Ebrahimi-amir: In general such stuff should be avoided. But if there are disagreements between users, it might happen that one user writes something about his point of view on his userpage which others already see as an inacceptable attack. In the case of Alborz Fallah's page, I looked into the content with Google Translate, which obviously does not give a correct translation but allows to get the gist of the text; and I could not see any indecency there. Of course you might disagree with the things he said about the working of Southern Azerbaijani test wiki, such conflicts can be discussed on talk pages. — If you feel that a user should be blocked for personal attacks, please come to the administrators' noticeboard to bring such a matter up. --MF-W {a, b} 23:10, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I wrote about this in here and here. After the user insists on the edit was blocked by another administrator. I want him to translate the writing in English. It seems that user did not understand its meaning(Apparently he does not understand South Azerbaijani Turkish).--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 05:04, 18 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I asked User Ebrahimi ( and others ) to write in my talk page in English : In the pervious encounters I could not prove my point of view because no other Admin can understand South Azerbaijani . I do understood Ebrahimi's demand for English translation in that language, but I didn't translate it because I think the abuse is pretty clear . Still I can give a translation if MF-Warburg asks .Alborz Fallah (talk) 15:42, 18 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Request2

Hi, MF-Warburg

We have the problems at Wp/azb that was better to solve them before. Anyhow we want to solve them now. These are also caused complaining about removing Ebrahimi-amir test-admin rights. At that time I was soft oppose because I thought he changes his attitude toward other users. Unfortunately he uses his dictatorship. He changes the articles without talking at talk pages but if we do that work he suppose it as editing war! And in all conditions we don't agree each other his changes remains.

  1. Azerbaijan
  2. Persian Gulf

Although the No.1 is used for several years in Printed Books, Ebrahimi-amir use No.2. He also himself said that the word No.2 used recently. We refer to printed books in Tabriz. About the his references I can say they're almost not reliable. Because of not being enough famous. Also that websites are forums or Pan-Turks and separatists. Neither they're are famous news agency nor research based website. RX--Arjanizary (talk) 14:21, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note: My claim is not removing Ebrahimi-amir test-admin rights. If he changes his attitude (Especially towards above articles), it won't be needed. --Arjanizary (talk) 03:15, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I strongly agree with User:Arjanizary. I think assuming good faith is no longer a good choice regarding User:Ebrahimi-amir.
With many Regards, In fact (talk) 09:13, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

MF-Warburg is familiar with my case . I had multiple blocks just because of my different points of views with User:Ebrahimi-amir and his small group of supporters. I did not asked for any interference because I thought it was not positive to slow down an active member like Ebrahimi ; but now I can see it ended up in turning this Wiki project to an intolerant non neutral blog with tunnel vision . I do think we need a more mature and more open minded test-admin that is not hot-tempered and is more tolerant. Without sacrificing that active test admin , the prosperity of Wp/azb would be in jeopardy and the participants would be few . Thank you , --Alborz Fallah (talk) 22:06, 12 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Who informed you about this? --Arjanizary (talk) 03:15, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Your concern is about canvassing , but no , this page is on my Watchlist because I have an open conversation here . --Alborz Fallah (talk) 10:52, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi all, thanks for bringing this up. I see that Ebrahimi-amir was notified, but has not edited since then. Before doing something, I of course would like to hear his opinion too. So let's wait until he is back to editing here. Thanks. --MF-W {a, b} 17:53, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi. "He changes the articles without talking at talk pages". Please show your document. All these issues have been discussed. If the results argue against your opinion is not my problem. For exmal in "کنگر کورفزی" I wrote:

If a viewpoint is in the majority, then it should be easy to substantiate it with reference to commonly accepted reference texts;
If a viewpoint is held by a significant minority, then it should be easy to name prominent adherents;
If a viewpoint is held by an extremely small (or vastly limited) minority, it does not belong in Wikipedia regardless of whether it is true or not and regardless of whether you can prove it or not, except perhaps in some ancillary article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WEIGHT#Undue_weight"

I wanted him to fix the problem, ask for an independent admin. http://incubator.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Wp/azb/%DA%A9%D9%86%DA%AF%D8%B1_%DA%A9%D8%A4%D8%B1%D9%81%D8%B2%DB%8C&diff=prev&oldid=1119506

I want to categorize my claims:

1- Azerbaijan:

I- The standard Azeri Turkish in arabic script [23] (Download pdf, see page 11, part 8/9. Word
He also accept this seminars standarization and usually refer to this but about Azerbaijan he doesn't.
II- A printed book in Iran, Iranian Turks history by famous native author Mohammadtaghi Zahtabi (and he also knows him [24])
III- Three users out of 5 active users of azb vote for "آذربایجان". [25]
IV- The references he mentioned (although they're not reliable) used both of them.
...- More printed books (include dictionaries, history books, grammar books) use "آذربایجان" (I write them at talk page here)

2- Persian Gulf:

I- The 2nd reference of above claim.
II- In Iran Azerbaijan (South Azerbaijan) 99.99% of people know "فارس" and about less than 0.01% know it "کنگر" (If other users want we can go together and ask people about this.)

3- His changes without ask others:(This cause others not to participate at Azb test wiki.)

I- Azerbaijan Islamic Party: See here. At first I create this article. Then he change without any talk at talk page. Then I returned it to previous status. Again He returned. Then I start talk at talk page in order not to involve in edit war. I refered to reliable sources. We don't use that word. We use "حزب" instead of that. "Partia" used in Azerbaijan Republic. If we want to use Turkic word we can use "توپلولوق" that I give reliable references for that at talk page.
II- Persian Gulf: See here

I reduced some cliam because I'm busy both in real life and Wy/ar. --Arjanizary (talk) 08:18, 15 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

The problem is not just between you and me and can not be solved this way.)) I disagree with you. I've sufficient reasons in the article talk page. You can write discussion on the article talk page and look forward to your reply to other users.)) The statistic is not correct. For example, thousands of Tractor fans repeatedly chanting "Arabic Gulf" have said. Statistics show your own thinking and our decision is not based on the content of users' personal beliefs. --Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 09:10, 15 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

" We don't use that word." Here the "we" who are they? پارتیا used in South Azerbaijani for "partiya" or "party" and توپلولوق no relevance to this thread.)) Unfortunately, you're an alien South Azerbaijani literature and It has been noted by other users as you.--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 09:28, 15 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

There user:Amir a57 has rightly asked:

Please give reasons about not accepting books and Standard Azeri in Arabic script? Why you yourself changed it? Only "آذربایجان" menthioned there!!!

About Amir a57, I think he should talk here about his claims. Although he is not here to defend himself (and I don't like to talk about him) I answered ther. "Please look carefully that Ebrahimi-amir changes the article not me."

Also you follow double standards. To refering to google searhes you don't agree when I searche both "کنگر کؤرفزی" & "فارس کؤرفزی" you don't accept and you seached "کنگر کؤرفزی"+"فارس"+... . But when we refer to latin Azeri you don't agree. --Arjanizary (talk) 12:31, 15 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not be drawn because the Azeri Wikipedia article Gulf Arabic script or whatever is name after the name of the paper, draw a line in Arabic or Persian Gulf. About the talk pages and how talk pages are used in this test Wiki I can mention some examples : In this edit , the test admin says "آد اوچون منجه قایناق لازیم دئییل البت کی ویکیده هرنه اوچون قایناق لازیم دئییل مثل باکی آزربایجان جمهوریتین باش‌کندی دیر بونا قایناق لازیم دئییل بو دا کی آزربایجان آدی نه اولسون تانیش اولان آدلار قایداسینا گرک باخا سیز " that means " There is no need of sources for the names , Wikipedia does not needs sources for all things , as there is no need of a source for Baku being the capital of Republic of Azerbaijan and that does not needs soruces and about the name of Azerbaijan , a person who is familiar with the [dictation] rules of the names have to say the last word . In answer , I show many examples from the most prominant poet of Azerbaijan ( Shariyar ) that he used the آذربایجان dictation , and in response , other user wrote : "بورا تهرانین «میدان گمرک» محلله سی دئیل. لوطفاً «میدان گمرک» سوییه سینده دانیشان «داش مشدی» - لرین بورادا " that means " here is not Gomrok square of Tehran , here is a place for scientists and wise people , please do not talk like the mobs of Gomrok squre ... ( Gomrok square is a bad name suburb of Tehran that the stolen cars and other goods are being sold there )--Alborz Fallah (talk) 07:08, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
More than that , User Ebrahimi keeps to ask me not to write in talk pages because my dictation in South Azerbajani is not good , and says my edits in talk pages are vandalism because I can't write in standard south Azeri . I want to ask then why he and other users like Amir a57 themselves write in English language talk pages when their English is much more weaker than my south Azeri ?! Are they Vandals too!? Is there any rule about not edithing in talk pages without standard language ? --Alborz Fallah (talk) 07:21, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

About on Wp/AZB articels

Hi dear MF-Warburg! After months of trying, I'm sorry to hear the views of languages committee about AZB Wikipedia [26] . I hope this view will change.

I had a question about the articles created on Wikipedia (There are no articles in the Azerbaijani Wikipedia). They will import? Or Do we have to manually do it?--Ebrahimi-amir (talk) 16:08, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note:MF-Warburg, could you please write the reason(s) of this. We are going to solve the remaining problems. Thanks in advance. --Arjanizary (talk) 13:46, 5 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wp/liv

Hello, MF-Warburg and sorry for my later answer. I have read your message at meta.wiki... so, I feel a bit upset. Unfortunately I don't know someone who can verify content and how to contact them. I think you won't taking us on trust. Then we will wait some longer.

And if not a secret, did you ask for verification linguists/experts from Livonian Cultural Centre? or from Tartu University? Maybe they can help?--Nuclear Star (talk) 19:26, 6 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for your answer. It's not secret, I can tell they were not among those we contacted. We will do that now, thanks for pointing to them. And, I just want to make it clear that you, contributors, do not need to contact them at all for verification. This is the job of Langcom; but we're grateful if you can give us some help in pointing out some possible people. – We do trust you. So far a final verification never ended up negatively. How long in Incubator

May I disturb you? I wonder how long a test project in Incubator is active enough to approve? in case of Vietnamese Wikivoyage (Wy/vi). Thanks.--Cheers! (talk) 02:50, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Generally, as you can read on the info in the template on m:Requests for new languages/Wikivoyage Vietnamese, "It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months." — I will have a look at the active test-projects at the end of the month, and will propose those in the Language Committee which from my point of view can be approved. Best regards --MF-W {a, b} 00:29, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for you reply. I have one more question about the sysop on Vietnamese Wikivoyage. Whenever the project is approved, is it need Sysops? We start to discuss at here for sysop right, is it right way? or can we propose a bureaucrat? Best wishes.--Cheers! (talk) 07:15, 2 May 2013 (UTC)--Cheers! (talk) 07:15, 2 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Most probably w.Punjabi Wikiquote has the longest record to be positively active in Incubator but still not approved. It is active since March 2011 (http://toolserver.org/~pathoschild/catanalysis/?cat=0&title=wq/pnb&wiki=incubatorwiki_p) and we can be proud of it with mixed feelings. And if we are approved, with 263 pages in the company of 89 Wikiquotes Family we will be on 44th position. --Khalid Mahmood (talk) 20:55, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

SignWriting Gadget on mobile

Greetings MF-Warburg, thanks for creating the (MediaWiki:Gadget-Signwriting.js). The gadget works great for the desktop, but it is not enabled for mobile. Is it possible to enable the gadget for mobile? -Slevinski (talk) 15:10, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Asking in #wikimedia-mobile, I was told "Gadgets should have "targets=mobile" or |targets=desktop|mobile" in description to work on mobile (and support ResourceLoader)". I have added this target parameter, but adding "ResourceLoader" just causes the gadget to not work for normal view either. I don't really know anything about mw:ResourceLoader or coding gadgets however. You maybe can ask Danny B. who created a gadget (Project-specific logos) that seems to use ResourceLoader. --MF-W {a, b} 16:40, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wp/liv 2

Hello! Any news about the searching of experts for verifying? :)
Our activity getting low; I think this is a consequence of the fact that users are tired of waiting. :| For example, who verified the Veps Wikipedia? Maybe those people can help us? (at least with something) --Nuclear Star (talk) 18:35, 11 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
The person who verified Veps Wikipedia was a scholar with particular knowledge of Veps ([27]). I doubt she can help about Livonian.
But I see the problem with the decreasing activity. I'll try to make new attempts to find experts, but it seems to be really difficult to find one. Do you think et:Valts Ernštreits could be one? (I found no e-mail address of him or so to contact him, unfortunately).
By the way I recently read about the death of the last Livonian native-speaker. It will be a good sign to have Wikipedia Livonian start in spite of it :) --MF-W {a, b} 21:21, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Is she dead? ... Oh, it's very sad. So it also means that the language's completely died and now it's spoken as a second one only.
I've never heard of Valts Ernštreits, but it will be good if you'll find a way to contact him. I've found his e-mail, it's hidden in this message ; also I've found this and his Twitter (is it possible to send private messages @ Twitter? I've no account in this site).
BTW, creation of a page about him in the Wp/liv is a good idea. :) --Nuclear Star (talk) 23:52, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thai Wikinews

Hi MF-Warburg,

Thai Wikinews has been closed for more than a year. However, recently, in Thai Wikipedia we have found that a number of articles that lack encyclopaedic notability are perfectly fine for Thai Wikinews. Many of these articles are of good quality and I have reached an agreement with Thai Wikipedia admins to gradually move them to Thai Wikinews (incubator version) as they are deleted from Thai Wikipedia.

It would be helpful if the followings can be done:

  1. Redirect th.wikinews.org to incubator. (In the same way that th.wikivoyage.org redirects to http://incubator.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wy/th/%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%81&redirectfrom=infopage.
  2. Correct the template problem. (move "Wn/th/แม่แบบ:Page name" to "Template:Wn/th/Page name")
  3. Provide a temporary sysop access on Wn/th to me or other Thai volunteer to clean up the project.

The most important issue is #1. Perhaps, it requires consultation with Language committee? The rest may be done by bot and regular request channel. Please let me know if you could kindly help with these. --Taweetham (talk) 02:43, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I will see what can be done about issue #1. It's a bit complicated because of the existance of the closed project there.
About #2, I have just moved them to the names in the format "Template:Wn/th/Page name").
You can request test-adminship for Wn/th on Incubator:Administrators. Also if you need imports, we will be happy to help. Best regards, --MF-W {a, b} 01:28, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi MF-Warburg! I just wonder if there is any progress on #1: redirection of the closed site to incubator. --Taweetham (talk) 23:49, 17 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi MF-Warburg! Do you have any progress on #1 or any suggestion on who to contact? Thanks. --Taweetham (talk) 15:15, 8 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately it seems very hard to implement, since the closed wiki also needs to be still accessible in some way. I filed bugzilla:56876 to track this issue, but can't promise much success. --MF-W {a, b} 00:09, 11 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, the project can be approved under the usual circumstances (MediaWiki messages + at least 3 active contributors for some months ... maybe 3 to 4). Also, the time from approval to the creation of the new wiki depends on the developers (see the bugs on I:SCL for the time between their opening and their closure). --MF-W {a, b} 22:01, 25 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

--MF-W {a, b} 12:21, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

There are only 3% most-used core messages left: I don't know how to translate a part of them, and also some messages are almost impossible to save (the system shows "Saving..." but nothing happens in the end). I cleared my cache (I use Chrome).

I'm ready to contribute at vmf.wiki after it will be created, so my lack of knowledge of High and/or Franconian German doesn't bother me so much, I can always leave it if I will embarrass the local community. --Midnight Gambler (talk) 16:35, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, typically Langcom looks like native speaker involvement - of course, it is not necessary that all editors are native speakers, so it is not a great problem if also native speakers are quite involved; but what do you want to contribute if you don't know the language? --MF-W {a, b} 17:47, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Minor edits (work with categories, templates etc.), fixes of obvious typos/errors, creation of stubs... so that's not a secret and it's easy for most of users. --Midnight Gambler (talk) 18:27, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
--Bua333 (talk) 20:49, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Translations of "most-used core messages" complete:([30]). --Bua333 (talk) 15:12, 23 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

--Steggalfiisch (talk) 08:54, 9 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Testing Admins/Sysops

Hi MF-Warburg. I want to know a thing from you. Can a testing sysop protect/delete his/her own userpage/user-subpage? If you answer this it'll be helpful for me. --Pratyya (Hello!) 06:49, 20 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

It will be no problem if a test-sysop deletes his own userpage. However, since they do not have protect rights, they cannot protect any pages. --MF-W {a, b} 07:59, 20 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes,Wy/zh,again

Dear MF-Warburg, Sure I am Hkjacksonhk from the Chinese Wikivoyage, and at this time I am joyful to tell you that Wy/zh can be imported any time. Our community can run the site anytime. As we can see Requests_for_new_languages#Wikivoyage, there has written that Wikivoyage Chinese was approved. Hope the import can become true.
