yes, but editing looks a bit curious at te first time (you see |eng, |fra , |deu etc.), but it's userfriendly. MF-Warburg 12:59, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

frc on Betawiki

Hi. JeanVoisin and I are still working on the translation and the translations that we've done still need to be checked for consistency. If we commit the translations as they are right now and we correct an error in an already-commited translation, will the newly-changed translation be committed when we commit the rest of the translations? We're both new to Wikipedia and any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated. I also noticed that frc doesn't fall back to English on the Betawiki anymore. Do you know why? We still have a lot of messages to translate. RoyAlcatraz 14:43, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't ask me, ask m:User:Siebrand or directly at betawiki. best regards MF-Warburg 17:27, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

ß

I was wondering what means "ß" in German? In Eqpl Ese ñ Machei' it puts a verb in the simple past. Like: ccabqenoh' (find) ccabqenoh'ß (found) SF-Language 14:04, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

An ß ("eszett" or "scharfes S" = "sharp S") is another writing for "ss" what is /s/. The ß is used when it follows a long vowel or a diphtong, for example:
  • beißen (to bite) (ei is a diphtong)
  • er biss (he bit) (i is short, so ss is written)

Maybe there's more information at en:ß. MF-Warburg 14:11, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the information! SF-Language 14:13, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

deleting test projects

Please next time first import them at incubator plus. Because i've transfered wikia community college to there it would otherwise be unfair. -Markvondeegel 15:45, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK. But I'm not yet a sysop there. And maybe we should ask the community of the test project before transferring. MF-Warburg 17:24, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is this article name too long? Wp/ese/Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Qdahjko'qi nqda' Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Oikljoh'qi ñ Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Ck Pigqe Onj Wikjba'cakp' 09:18, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wp/mcq/The Catholic Church of Peru compared to the the Catholic Church of Bolivia compared to the Catholic Church of the United States Wikjba'cakp' 09:25, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
First, why do you have such an article? Second, if there is a possibility for a shorter name, use that. But if the title is long, also the article name is long. For example en:Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu. --MF-W admin, bureaucrat 09:27, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Because the church is a tradition for Ese Ejja language. There are differences between those churches. I think it's possible to shorten it to Wp/ese/Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Qdahjko'qi nqda' Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Oikljoh'qi ñ Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Ck Pigqe Onj. But than it contains streetlanguage and shortcuts. Wikjba'cakp' 09:32, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Don't do that. Keep it so long. --MF-W admin, bureaucrat 09:37, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok Wikjba'cakp' 09:38, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Why don't you change it to Wp/ese/Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Qdahjko'qi nqda' Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Oikljoh'qi ñ Kqiccen Kacholiq Qcha'qi lp Ck Pigqe Onj. It's a lot shorter. SF-Language 10:37, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

commonsdelinker

Is it a good idea to give him a bot flag? Normally you can easily see that a image has been removed, just a clock on recent changes... SF-Language 10:53, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hm, but why do you want to see that? If the image is not in the article anymore, and you want to know why it was gone, you click "history" and see that the bot removed or replaced it. Note that it has also a bot flag on several Wikipedias (for example English). I will take it down if necessary. MF-W admin, bureaucrat 11:14, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, if a test has 500 pages. I'm sure you're not watching the history of all pages... SF-Language 11:15, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I meant that you can go to the history if you want to see why the image isn't there. MF-W admin, bureaucrat 11:17, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but how do you know the image is gone? SF-Language 11:19, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
e. g. here. You see an edit of CommonsDelinker and ... - so take the flag away or not? MF-W admin, bureaucrat 11:21, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Huh? SF-Language 11:22, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Better:
example: here. You see an edit of CommonsDelinker and you know the image was deleted on commons. Shall I take the flag away now or not? --MF-W admin, bureaucrat 11:25, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think it's better to take away the flag. You can't see when a image is taken away. You need to check pages' history our click on the contributions of the bot itself. SF-Language 11:29, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
  Done, removed bot status. --MF-W admin, bureaucrat 11:33, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Moving iso-codeless tests to Incubator Plus?

I think we need to move these tests. Taking a quick look, these tests need to be moved:

  • aeres (I'm already busy on this one)
  • aeres-old (I'm already busy on this one)
  • art-da (I'm already busy on this one)
  • bat-ltg
  • jpn-bungo
  • ko-kore
  • pt-br (hasn't got a chance to become a real wikipedia, maybe nominate for deletion?)
  • ru-old
  • ru-lat
  • surzh
  • vi-nom
  • wawa

We can leave them here, but most of them will be moved or deleted anyway sooner or later. -Markvondeegel 16:58, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion: Test adminship

Hi!

I´m not sure if it would be necessary a test administrator on the Extremaduran test... there isn´t vandalism... well, i could help you deleting unused images and pages from Extremaduran request...

I will ask to the Extremaduran community and if they agree, i´ll try to be a good test administrator!

Hui, i would like to ask you one thing... I saw this message "A proposal has been made to reform this proposal system" in Proposals for new projects, could this afect to the Extremaduran request?

Thanks you!

Username blacklist

Hi, MF-Warburg. I saw there has been a vandal registering as Renameduser008 on 18 Novenber 2007. I thought, to prevent this, I will add it to the username blacklist. But I see you added it on 18 August 2007. So, it is not working. Do you have any idea? SPQRobin 13:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I changed it from "((R|r)enameduser)" to "(Renameduser)". It seems to work now. I tried to create an account "Renameduser009" but got an error message. --MF-W {a, b} Visit IRC! 14:34, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Btw you're also an admin in the Gamewiki right? Can you please tell me how did you manage to get sysop right there? A few articles is not enough; making a project on your own is hard. And it usually takes a long time before the langcom approves a test project. And then it takes another long time before the developers create the site. So it will not go that fast. SPQRobin 14:56, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bureaucrat

Hi! I'm not sure if this is possible, but.... well, i would like to be a bureaucrat in the new Extremaduran wikipedia (of course, there would be a votation...) it would be possible?. Greetings! Tiu Chelu 18:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Of course this is possible when there will be a voting, but the Stewards who will make you bureaucrat then will probably not do so if there is only a small community [because there is no need for bureaucrats then]. So I propose you first have a voting about sysop rights on ext.wikipedia and then, when the wiki grew, you can also have bureaucrats.
Another thing: Please have a look at this; without that information the Extremaduran Wikipedia cannot be created. --MF-W {a, b} 10:58, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, i'll try to be sysop again (i though i couldn't...). Refering to the "Namespace names for Extremaduran".... i don't understand what does it mean... may be it's the name of "Wikipedia" and "Wikipedia talk" in extremaduran? (in that case it would be "Güiquipeya" and "Caraba la Güiquipeya"). Thank you! Tiu Chelu 11:10, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jose77

Hi, I have recently returned to find that Jose77 is still trying to push his religious agenda here.

[9] [10] [11]

Often, he has created incubator pages for languages with no community here with the sole purpose of pushing this religious agenda. This guy is trying to distort things, and gives undue weight to his own en:true Jesus Church by putting it on their main pages sometimes where it clearly does not belong (only 1 million members, compared to many more prominent churches).

He has been desysopped at many Wikis where he requested the privilege, sometimes fraudulently, and often promulgated wrong and incorrect interface translations he got by taking words from a dictionary. In fact, he has often "translated" the article on his True Jesus Church with a dictionary, resulting in very poor and incorrect translations. By including only Christianity-related topics in a category on Religion, he is ignoring the world's other major religions, including both Islam and Hinduism which have over 1 billion followers each, in his quest to convert all Wikipedia readers to his own True Jesus Church. --Node ue 19:58, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

So you now want me to do what? I know about his controversical actions (e.g. this article which was called (translated) "Very True Jesus Church" by the author). Btw: Islam and Hinduism don't have a billion followers (so many people don't live on earth), "only" a milliard. --MF-W {a, b} 13:44, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
@MF-Warburg; in English one billion = 1.000.000.000, there are 6.000.000.000 people on the earth... --Ooswesthoesbes 15:39, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Format der Datumsangaben - Pontic Greek (pnt)

Hallo MF-Warburg.

Incubator:Importing from Incubator

I just saw the page Incubator:Importing from Incubator and your name is in History. Sorry for asking you, but I asked in Incubator:Community Portal#Category:Portuguese Wikiversity and didnt have an answer.

I'm from beta.Wikiversity [12] and we have a permission to create the pt.Wikiversity, but we have a problem.

There is a Wikiversity project in pt.Wikibooks [13] and when we start to create pages in beta.wikiversity some users had copy+past some pages from Wikibooks.

Now a sysops (in beta, wikiversity) told me that its "illegal", but he said its impossible to import pages from wikibooks.

Its really impossible to import from Wikibooks ? How can we solve this ?

Rjclaudio 16:23, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Someone should go to meta:RFP and request to be added to the "import" group on beta.wikiversity. Then the pages which were illegaly copied should be deleted on beta.wikiversity and the person who was made an importer can import the pages from pt.wikibooks by pt:b:Special:Export and betawikiversity:Special:Import (XML-Import). If there's nobody who would request import rights, ask me :) --MF-W {a, b} 16:28, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I never be an importer, but I want to try, if you can help me.

The pages imported illegaly have many new edits, and we had to rename many pages. So we should make a "history fusion" with the existing ones. And I think I cant do this. I import the pages, and then make a list of pages that need a "history fusion", and ask someone to make this ?

If I try to import a page from wikibooks and exist a page with the same name in wikiversity, what should I do ? Rename one of them ?

When I use the tool to export pages in one category, all pages in subcats are exported to ? Or I have to do the same thing to all subcats ?

Rjclaudio 11:57, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, import the pages and then ask some beta.wv admins to "merge the histories" (it can be done by deleting the page with the new name, moving the page with the old name to the new name, deleting this page, and then undeleting the page with the new name, where now all versions of both pages are. The pages are merged now).
If you try to import a page from Wikibooks and a page with the same name exists on Wikiversity, and this is the illegally copied page, then you can just import the page (the histories will be merged automatically). If one of the pages is not the illegal one, then move it to another temporary name first, import the other page, move it to another name and then move the original page of Beta back to its old name.
Special:Export does not include pages of subcategories. You have to do it for every subcategorie, too. --MF-W {a, b} 15:02, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

move to Lost namespace

I would know if that is the good work :

  1. for all unprefixed page in (main) namespace, move it with the prefixed same name (the unprefixed page will be mark with ® at the next check of list of unprefixed pages)
  2. change all the linked text to make empty the special:WhatLinksHere of the unprefixed page
  3. rename the unprefixed page to the Lost namespace.

That's right ? Crochet.david 18:11, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

1 and 2: yes; 3: no. Please put {{delete}} on the unprefixed page (which should only be a redirect to the prefixed page); or, what would save a lot of time, make a request for some temporary adminship for your bot for the time you are cleaning to delete this redirects yourself. Pages should be moved to Lost: namespace if you cannot diagnose the right prefix. --MF-W {a, b} 17:18, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

template used by multiple project

When i see the number of template to rename, it will be a big work to check it. When i see the use of there, i found a problem because a template can be used by more than two projects. So we must create template as many they are language that use it ? Crochet.david 16:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, we must duplicate them. You can move the original page to one prefix and create new pages (maybe redirects?) for the rest of the test projets using that template. But on if the template contains no text that should be translated. --MF-W {a, b} 17:03, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mari wiki

Hi, It seems that some namespaces were translated with errors.

Namespace Now Should be
User
Category

Who could change these namespaces? Who does I can ask to do it?

The next question is ... What does the category mhr:Category:!Main category mean? Should I remove or replace this category from articles? Where I can find some info about this?

And finally, Can I ask you to import all templates like {{User en}}, {{User en-1}} and so on to to mari wiki ?

Thanks in advance, --Dnikitin 16:04, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

You can translate namespace names on TranslateWiki.net (translatewiki:Special:Magic), however the correct names are already included in the software (see [15]), you just need to wait until the current version will be active on Wikimedia servers.
How much time it can take? week? month? --Dnikitin 17:36, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately this is uncertain. mw:Extension:LocalisationUpdate would solve that problem, and we requested to activate it here on Incubator, see I:CP#LocalisationUpdate. The only thing you can do is to wait. --MF-W {a, b} 10:44, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
mhr:Category:!Main category is just the Category:Wp/mhr from here which was the main category for the mhr test project. You can remove it from articles if you want.
About the babel templates: I'm not an importer on mhr.wikipedia anymore, so I can't do this. Unfortunately no import wikis are set for mhr.wp, so mhr:User:Amdf who is just a sysop there (but not an importer), is also not able to do this. I recommend you to announce this on mhr.wp and request importer status for someone who is trusted on mhr & knows how to import from XML files (I could do so). --MF-W {a, b} 16:58, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've created request on mhr.wp mhr:Wikipedia:Портал_сообщества#Importers. --Dnikitin 17:36, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
It seems you have Importer flag on mhr.wiki. See meta:Steward_requests/Permissions#MF-Warburg.40mhr.wikipedia. Could you import to mhr.wiki all babel templates? Thanks, --Dnikitin 12:43, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

--MF-W {a, b} 16:28, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

<inputbox>
type=create
preload=Template:<Vorlage>
</inputbox>

Siehe dazu mw:Extension:InputBox und mw:Manual:Creating pages with preloaded text.

--MF-W {a, b} 17:47, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

-- Silvicola 17:26, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

--MF-W {a, b} 18:23, 30 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Danke! -- Silvicola 16:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi [gamba]

Hello,
Could you please, restore Wt/lad/gamba, I intented to categorise and correct it but you deleted it before. I don't possess the exact information of what I wrote there. It was like a crap because I edited it while speaking with an old native and I noted and registered what he told me at the moment. Gamba in modern Spanish means leg however in Judeo-Spanish it's a specific region within the leg, which region exactly is now only written there. And many thanks for your welcoming words.

Now to the point: when reading other articles on several Wiktionaries, I saw that article titles begin with a low case letter, not a capital like I did. I guess it should be Wt/ht/flè, not Wt/ht/F, but I did not find how to undo my wrong edit… Could you please help me with this?

Importbeihilfe

Hallo MF-Warburg,

Why?

Why you deleted the Wp/rse? And you don't understanding that Wp/enf is in English) — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chris.Taub.M.D. (discussioncontribs) 08:46 h UTC, 7 February 2010.

The "Siberian Wikipedia" has been closed and deleted some time ago. It will not be recreated. As regards enf: the code has nothing to do with English (see [16]) and a Wikipedia written in Runes will not be approved by the Langcom. --MF-W {a, b} 15:20, 7 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hiiiiilfe!!!! - 2 identische Kategorien ...

Kannst Du mir bitte, bitte helfen?

--MF-W {a, b} 15:26, 12 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Also gut. Was tun? Nur beobachten und abwarten? Ratlos bin ich noch immer. --Skipper Michael 22:04, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
--MF-W {a, b} 19:00, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
--Skipper Michael 17:38, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Main page protection

I'm interested in our project's main page protection - so edit it can only admins... Can we do that protection? --Dark Eagle (runuot · devīņs) 19:26, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Technically, it's of course possible, however the problem is that then only full Incubator admins (not test-admins) could edit the page (more precisely: all members of a group that has the protect permission). However, it would be possible to restrict the editing of the page to autoconfirmed users, which is not exactly brilliant, but still a small level of protection. Another way would be to request a configuration change, but that can take a very long time... --MF-W {a, b} 19:55, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, see en:List of Nahuan languages. The (Classical) Nahuatl Wikipedia (which uses the ISO 639-2 code nah; its 639-3 code is nci, however) covers a different language than a Pipil (ppl) or Central Nahuatl (nhn) test wikipedia. Change of alphabet

Do you think it's possible to switch from latin alphabet to IRCAM neo-tifinagh (tfng) alphabet adopted in Morocco ⴰⴱⴳⴷⴺⴻⴼⴽⵀⵃⵄⵅⵇⵉⵊⵍⵎⵏⵓⵔⵕⵖⵙⵚⵜⵟⵡⵢⵣⵥⵯ

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tifinagh_Ircam

It might not have a valid code (ISO 15924) but for our project wp/rif, this might be the easiest way to get over our disagreement in transcription and spelling. I'll leave the same message to Aryaz. --Eko 17:17, 10 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Technically, it's of course possible, however the question is whether the usability of wp/rif would remain the same, or would it become more difficult because of the installation of Tifinagh-keyboards/drivers/fonts/... From reading the Wikipedia article, I see that Latin script is more widely used than Tifinagh and therefore also more understood by more people? - These questions would have to be clarified, this is however an interesting attempt to solve the problem.
(some more detailed remarks will follow by mail) --MF-W {a, b} 17:23, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for giving me an answer and your efforts to help us. I hope users from wp/shi and wp/rif will take part in the debate. Using this alphabet would be interesting. It's the official alphabet for teaching tamazight in Morocco. It's really easy to learn, Morrocan Tv channels have broadcast for some years now an everyday educational programme to teach people this alphabet and to fight illiteracy. Educational tools like cdroms, textbooks and dictionaries are written in tifinagh. The problem of whether we include the sound schwa [ə] is solved as in tifinagh and IRCAM's spelling it isn't used except in some rare cases.
Example the word akeccuḍ (wood) is ⴰⴽⵛⵛⵓⴹ (just count the letters, one has disappeared in tifinagh, it's the sound schwa [ə].
(Whether we should write -e or no is another bone of contention in latin translitteration)
gh or ɣ, ε or â : this is not anymore a problem as in tifinagh gh or ɣ = and ε or â =
It's a left to right alphabet. With an european keyboard it's much easier to write in tifinagh than in arabic. IRCAM provides for free fonts and drivers if needed (http://www.ircam.ma/fr/index.php?soc=telec)
The possibilty of two alphabets like in Serbian Wikipedia is an excellent idea and we would have to take into account this :
  • ɣ = ⵖ -> indeed "gh" would be transcribed ⴳⵀ in tifinagh (and this is not what we want!)
  • the problem with g° and k° (ⴳⵯ and ⴽⵯ), ° could be also degrees.
  • only if we don't write the sound schwa (eg. not akeccuḍ but akccuḍ in latin alphabet so that in tifinagh we have ⴰⴽⵛⵛⵓⴹ). --Eko 19:15, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'm confident that these problems can all be avoided in some way (look at a random page in sr: the standard is cyrillic script, latin script used is always latin script in Cyrillic + Latin versions, and cyrillic interwikis also don't cause trouble).
However, as far as I understand, two scripts can only be implemented in the subdomain after approval, not in Incubator.
It is however possible to translate the MediaWiki interface into more than one script, please visit [20], get translator rights and ask for enabling translation iinto the two scripts on support. There, you could surely also get information about how to implement a similar thing like the Serbian one on wp/rif.
Btw, a workaround for the dispute on gh or ɣ etc. could be to create a template - e. g. template:wp/rif/Yaγ (that's the letter's name I guess) containing the following code: {{#ifeq: {{Special:Mypage/yaγ}} | gh | gh | ɣ }}. The usage in articles would be to use {{Wp/rif/Yaγ}} instead of gh / ɣ - so, like a normal letter. If you want to see "gh", you have to create special:mypage/yaγ containing "gh", otherwise ɣ appears (of course, you (wp/rif community) would still have to determine what appears as standard, I just took ɣ as example here because you, Eko, favour ɣ). It is obvious that using this template would be quite cumbersome (maybe an exeption could be made and a shorter unprefixed form could be created to make usage a bit simpler). --- Just a proposal from me, of course, and you contributors have to decide. --MF-W {a, b} 17:11, 12 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
I cannot thank you enough for all your advice. Contributors are pretty scarce but with Aryaz, I hope we'll reach an agreement. --Eko 15:38, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistent article class icon template names

Hi again,

Would it be much trouble to fix the names of the following un-prefixed Template:Classicon shortcuts, to be somewhat more consistent?

  1. Template:A-Class-icon
  2. Template:B-icon
  3. Template:C-icon (The only one that actually does transclude the Classicon template)
  4. Template:FA
  5. Template:GAicon
  6. Template:NoFA
  7. Template:NoGA-icon

Or would it be better not to use the shortcuts anyway?

Also, I find it ominous that lots of nonexistent articles on Wp/jam/Wikipedia: Di nesiseri aatikl dem are already rated. Looks like the ratings refer to the respecive articles in some other language and were simply imported. - Thanks, Mkratz 00:48, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Define "fix the names". In general, unprefixed templates should not exist and every test project can create prefixed templates like they want (with shortcuts or not). Feel free to remove ratings of non-existing pages and pages never rated. --MF-W {a, b} 18:08, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

bot-software

Hallo MF-Warburg!

Useful templates repository

Hi,

I have a complaint on my user talk page about problems finding appropriate templates. I think it might be useful to re-open unprefixed templates for editing in english, but not transcluding. I guess replacing their Move tab by a Copy tab is out of the question, but I imagine it shouldn't be hard to redirect all transclusion attempts from prefixed pages to Template:Use prefixed copy; that'd allow them to be used in user pages, etc.

I see even {{done}} has got the prefixed-copy template. IMHO, that goes too far.

Did nobody propose this in the discussion that lead to unprefixed templates being phased out? BTW, where is that discussion? Can't find it. --Mkratz 21:52, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean by reopening them for editing? Some of them are protected, but the vast majority of them is not. Additionally, it is still possible to transclude them into non-prefixed pages (even in the main namespace, however editing of the unprefixed pages there is blocked). Indeed replacing the move by a copy tab would require a change to the software that is unlikely to be done; however maybe another solution could be found. Of course one could argue about {{done}} being a to-be-prefixed template, however I guess test projects don't have the opportunity to use such a template too often; and they could even have a translated version if they create their own one.
So, what exactly do you mean by "this" which should have been proposed during the discussion about introducing {{Use prefixed copy}}? (it was proposed and discussed in IRC, so you won't find anything here. The reason for introducing it was to prevent test projects use templates with common names together, while the template is only in one language - or only in English. Moreover, the usage of unprefixed templates in tests will cause problem when importing the test to an own subdomain). --MF-W {a, b} 17:50, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I see you haven't read the complaint. Quote: "I wish some of us unite to simplify things and place them [templates] at some appropriate place for newcomers. It really feels like reinventing the wheel sometimes."
Suppose someone needs a nifty template that lists certain categories; that already exists, only virtually no one can find it because it's called {{Wp/mai/शिर्षक}}
So, what we need is a place where we can have a collection of useful templates in major languages (another quote: "...had copied it from a language which i myself did not understand") where projects can lift source code from, instead of reinventing the wheel over and over again.
After some consideration, I think it'd be better to provide such a template pool with a prefix of its own, and leave the unprefixed namespace for incubator general-usage templates, such as {{done}}.
Then, we might harrass editors with messages like:
Think you have a useful template that might be of interest to other projects? Pool it! [dismiss]
Have a look at the demo.--Mkratz 09:56, 30 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
I also agree with Mkratz. Most of the users of incubator (in my opinion) are here because they know a language or interested to promote one. Knowing technical knowledge related to computers and programming is not their concern. Many would try developing elements in their projects, but would fail and get frustrated and discouraged. This is true mostly for developing templates for the project. I myself was discouraged to try many things after failing in some attempts. I give you an example. I tried to copy navbox design and structure from English wikipedia. I did not know until very recently that the structure was failing to build because the classes mentioned there were related to what was present in commons.css page. I mended the code by replacing all the classes (which were calling the styles from css) with style definitions directly in the navbox code. And here goes my navbox. But it still has some problems.
  1. I could not yet fix the collapsible feature issue.
  2. The navbar at the top left corner of box is not padding from left. I don't know why.
  3. There is some problem with child navboxes too. Which one can find in the last example on the page.
I could manage to fix the box upto that extent only because I kept learning about css and other matters in these days (i like to learn anything new, but this might not be case with everyone). Otherwise i would never know difference between "styles" and "classes". Now after i fixed the issue, i can make boxes of my interest, place them in the articles, and concentrate more on translating articles or writing something new. I could apply the structure of the navbox to other topic specific navboxes with just one single effort. And that is just copy the required code (and until the project is at incubator, replace all the un-prefixed links with prefixed ones) and translate the contents into your language, and here you go.
I checked many of the navboxes which other people were trying to make in other projects. Most of them were repeating the same steps and making the same mistakes which i was doing. I really don't know how many of them succeed later. Please, do check all the attempts of the people in the Template namespace. For me, it was really interesting to check the history of some pages.
Wikipedia is a great mean for promotion and preservation of languages. And a great source of knowledge and information. But why shall one need to learn technical matters related to the code specific to wikipedia before attempting to contribute in their language. I myself could have started contributing to the wiki project in my language two years back if i knew that helping build a project was that easy.
I don't know whether this issue matters to someone else or not, but I really want most of the work done before our project gets a final approval and has its own domain. I want most of the help pages translated, most of the useful templates built, portals built for individuals interested in any specific topics/field, etc. This will prevent many unnecessary repetitions of the steps and efforts. Like once we had a basic navbox structure, than anyone later can easily (and with less effort) can make navboxes about any topic. This is true for Infoboxes, Messageboxes, etc. Otherwise, each time one would have to make tables and arrange their structure individually for every specific design element.
I guess i said too much, and with very poor English. Regards. --Imdadb 05:28, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
@Mkratz: Well, I *have* read the complaint, but did not quite understand what you were suggesting by re-open[ing] unprefixed templates for editing in english, but not transcluding.
@Imdadb: If you needed to write all you wrote to express what you wanted to express, I don't think at all you said too much. Additionally, I had no problems in understanding it.
@both: Actually, I thought it is very easy to copy and paste a template's source from a {{use prefixed copy}}-affected unprefixed one, or from en.wikipedia or Meta or another wiki; but as this appears not always to be the case, a "pool" of templates is indeed a good idea. Maybe it's not even necessary to do it with Inputboxes, but just putting links to templates that might be of interest (if they are in English or easily adaptable) on a page. Please have a look at User:Mkratz/demo/Pool/en, I have made some changes to it. What do you think them? --MF-W {a, b} 19:29, 4 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Banjar Wikipedia

Hi MF-W, Thank for support Banjar Wikipedia which now is created. I have a question where I can apply sysop (administrator) for the wiki since I am not in incubator as test-adminship for wp/bjn? Thank in advanced for your attention and cooperation.--J Subhi pemandiran 11:47, 23 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Make a request on bjn:Wikipidia:Portal komunitas (or create a new page for requests for adminship) and get support from the bjn contributors. You can then request adminship on Meta. You can also ask for temporary adminship like this. --MF-W {a, b} 16:51, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Support

Could you support your Wikipedia here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_new_languages/Wikipedia_Tacelḥit --Kaiyr 23:38, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, that is not "my Wikipedia". Additionally, there is no need to express extravagant "supports" or "opposes", as the process of allwoing new language versions is not subject to any voting. The Tachelhit Wikipedia has already been "verified as eligible". See m:Language_committee/Status/wp/shi for what's still missing - an active test and a translation of the interface. --MF-W {a, b} 21:12, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wn/cs

If these articles are not exported, it's time to do it and delete them here. Wn/cs made in 2008, but they're still here... Time to do something with them:

Indeed, if they have not yet missed any of those pages, they probably already have them or don't need them anymore. I'll let the bot delete them. --MF-W {a, b} 17:09, 23 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
