need help, about wp/tay
editHello, I think you have the same id on translatewiki.net, right? I need your help.
Because of your this contributions, people who want incubate Atayal Wikipedia feel sad and ask me "Dose that mean our community is no longer active enough?" Could you tell me the reason that you moved it?
And, could you read in Chinese? My English is poor, so I can't expression my opinion very well sometimes. Your id seems like a Chinese name. If you can read Chinese, I can ask my question much easier.--Reke (talk) 05:53, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hello @Reke:, if you're asking about Incubator:Featured wikis (especially if you're asking about "These are active and might get their own site soon:"), afaik it means the most active 8 test-projects, so in that time I saw Wp/bcc is (a little?) more active than Wp/tay, and I've confirmed that the request page even haven't created, so this replacement is valid, but it really doesn't mean this wiki is "no longer active", and however, I also wish this to be re-added in the near future. PS: As an apology, I replaced Wp/jut with Wp/ais, as this test project has a request page and I believe it can be approved earlier. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 06:12, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- Now I re-considered my past actions, and decided to re-add Wp/tay by removing Wp/kbp, actually tay project has edits today, maybe we should request now? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 06:30, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for your help! I didn't think that Atayal can back before, and just want to have a reason let Atayal editors relax. So this is much better than I expected.
- BTW, are you a member of language committee?--Reke (talk) 07:30, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- Mnn, I'm not a langcom member, and I don't have interest to join for now... But I usually visit Incubator to cleanup something which looks wrong. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 07:34, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Wikimedia Incubator翻译协调员, 18:39, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Do we have a tool to easily show test activity?
editHi. I'm wondering where you pull data to populate I:Featured wikis. Here's why I ask. I was looking through the eight wikis listed there, and the first six are fine. But in the last two, while there continues to be regular activity in them, they have both become one-person shows in recent months. So I'm inclined to remove them. But I wouldn't know what to replace them with. Thanks. StevenJ81 (talk) 13:24, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
Wikis that will probably remain here
editTwo things.
- First, the tests in that category are there because of policy issues. For example, Ancient Greek is not a modern language, so current policy says it will not have a subdomain approved. That's why it will "always" be here (whatever that means). That problem doesn't apply to Khowar.
- Second, I think there's a concern as to whether there is a sufficiently diverse community contributing. But in principle, if a diverse community starts contributing, then this project could very well be approved, perhaps even relatively soon.
At most, I would remove that project from the "active and might get their own site soon" category, and just leave it out of the Incubating Wikis template entirely. But as it is, it's an emotionally touchy issue for the community right now, which is upset enough that the Phabricator has been closed. It does no harm to keep this the way it is for now. (That's why I said to leave nine there for the time being.) StevenJ81 (talk) 15:14, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Template:Tests/wp (etc.)
editI'd appreciate your opinion on something related to this/these templates:
At present, there are something like 1,000 tests that (apparently) contain at least one legitimate page of content. At present, there are something like 600 tests listed in this series of templates. So here are my questions:
- Should absolutely every test be listed here? I know the front page says that this represents a list of "all wikis in incubation". But many of these tests have fewer than five pages, and were created on one or two days by a single user over five years ago. I'm not proposing deleting those tests, but I wonder if we really need to list them all here.
- Separately—but at the same time more importantly, if the answer to the above is "yes"—should we make this template more lean? I'm not really convinced we really need any but the first and last columns (or maybe first one and last two) here. The rest is accessible from the individual infopages, and with respect to the Meta requests and language articles on enwiki, the infopages are better maintained than this page is.
- If the answer to the first question is "no", I might add an article count here on the projects that do stay. But that would require some work to make sure all articles appear in the main category of the respective test.
Thanks for your thoughts. StevenJ81 (talk) 14:57, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- If a test project is inactive for years (to me at least 2 years, as well as the default period that global policy Admin activity review defines), in theory yes it shouldn't be listed, because no people will ever focus on that. But this could also have Bodo-like cases, where project recently re-active after years.
- My suggestion on cleaning up criteria:
- Basically, trying to do something that translatewiki:Special:SupportedLanguages does (sadly this special page is also disabled on WMF for years), so the more contributors that a project has, the name of that project appears larger, and vice versa;
- Projects that are created by socks/global VOAs can be just removed (by everyone that focus Tests/Wp...) and deleted, without warning;
- maybe others... --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 23:51, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks. MF-W agrees also (by email). So don't add anything new right now (unless it's an obvious keep—big, active project, etc.). I'll work on this.

Wikimedia Incubator翻译协调员, 14:39, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Wp/pbt and Wp/pbu
editHi. You usually do things for appropriate reasons, and I can understand why you just created these two. (I copyedited a little.) Please keep in mind, though, that I usually only put these {{Different code/subdomain}}
pages (and similar) where either people have inappropriately started a project or where unusual alternate code issues exist (gst/als, for example). I'm trying to keep unnecessary infrastructure down so that it's easier to keep track of what's actually here and what's not. Thanks for your understanding. New test info pages (root pages)
editHi. As you know, I'm mostly trying not to have lots and lots of "tocreate" infopages, because it makes it much harder to see what really exists here and what doesn't. So while ultimately you're a free agent, and can choose what you want to do, let me make the following suggestion. It's based on my own practices in this regard.
- First priority: See if there are actually any content pages. If so, change status to
|status=open
, and ideally create a category page. (It can be mostly empty; the edit box on a new page gives instructions on setting it up so it becomes a subcategory of Category:Incubator:All test wikis. If there's a main page, you can add it to the category, but don't make yourself crazy.) In general, I think you do, in fact, typically change the status code if you see content, for which I am very appreciative.
If there is no content ...
- If a named user creates a new root page with status "tocreate", I usually go to the creator's talk page and ask if the creator plans to start creating content. If I get a response (see Wp/mag), I usually let the page stay for a while. If I don't, in 7–14 days, I delete the root page.
- If an IP creates such a new root page, I just wait seven days to see if content has been added. If so, fine. If not, I delete the root page.
- Obviously, if I see the page has been created by an LTA, I simply delete it.
Do what you wish, of course. But I don't want to encourage a lot of root page creation "just because". StevenJ81 (talk) 15:33, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- @StevenJ81: Yes, and hence we can delete Wb/ab if that IP user still don't create even one page before tomorrow? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 04:01, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Liuxinyu970226: Exactly right. StevenJ81 (talk) 16:06, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
