hello edit

Hi Jose. Thanks so much for the appoval... Though i am happy for it, I still feel overwhelmed that there are a lot of technical things to be clear with.

One of the greatest problems of writing in Kinaray-a is that there is a difficulty in representing the schwa sound. Being a native speaker, the use of 'e' for writing Kinaray-a is quiet confusing. I suggest the use of 'u' for the schwa sounds and that 'e' should only be used in sounds that have the 'e' sound as in 'egg'.

For the long 'o' sound (which is symbolized by 'u' in Tagalog), i suggest that 'o' should be used because there is no significant distinction between long 'o' and short 'o' in Kinaray-a.

To summarize, there are only 4 vowels in Kinaray-a: a as in bag i as in big schwa as in murmur o/oo as in boss

The short 'e' sound is foreign and was brought by the Spanish and should be used for loaned Spanish and English words, or else there will be consfusion in spelling.

It should be noted that consciousness for writing Kinaray-a started only in the 1990's. Prior to 1990's, people use Hiligaynon (a totally different langauge) to write, though what they want to express is in Kinaray-a. It is because of the reason that the Spanish, for 333 years of occupation, has promoted the use of Hiligaynon language in the region, imposing it even to Akeanon and Kinaray-a speakers. (Socio-historial oppression of the Karay-a people under the Spanish rule and the promotion of the Hiligaynon elitism). Because of this, 'literature' in Kinaray-a has remained largely oral.

Kinaray-a is one of the oldest langauges in the Philippines, along with the languages of the minority indigenous peoples (Ifugao, Igorot, Mandaya, Mangyan, Manuvu, etc.). And it is the only old langauge langauge that is spoken by a large population, beacsue it is promoted in the province of Antique (Karay-a nation). It did not change as much as compared to Tagalog (which has classical Tagalog and modern Tagalog) or Bisaya-Cebuano. It predates Tagalog and even seen as the root language of Tagalog. It even predates Hiligaynon in the region.

During the 1970's Hiligaynon is only used by the poeple living in urban areas, especially in the province of Iloilo. But becasue of media (newspapers, television, radio), which all uses Hiligaynon, a lot of Kianaray-a speakers in Iloilo are now switching to Hiligaynon in rural Iloilo and Capiz.

APPROVING THIS PROJECT WOULD REALLY MEAN A LOT IN SAVING THIS LANGUAGE. AT PRESENT, A LOT OF KARAY-A PEOPLE ARE NOW CONNECTED TO INFORMATION, ESP IN THE INTERNET AND CONSCIOUSNESS TO PROMOTE WRITING IN KINARAY-A IS GROWING ESPECIALLY TO TEH YOUNGER GENERATIONS (I'm just 19 myself)

AT PRESENT, THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM IN WRITING IN STANDARD KINARAY-A. BUT IF THIS PROJECT SUCCEEDS, AND THE STYLE USED IN THIS PROJECT BE PROMOTED, IT COULD BE ONE STEP IN CREATING THE STANDARD WRITTEN KINARAY-A! (WIKIPEDIA, HELPED CREATE HISTORY ;-) )

THANKS A LOT

-Ron

It's alright if you put it all in English. I don't have a problem translating it. I really appreciate your help since I don't know how to do all of this Wikipedia coding. I can understand the coding when I see it, but I don't know how to create it on my own. Thanks! JeanVoisin 22:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jose77!

Thanks a lot for for supporting my Plautdietsch Wikipedia initiative. I just read what you wrote me about the True Jesus Church -- amazing! I should write a Plautdietsch version of the article about that church, but, maybe first something more about "my" Mennonites ;-) Thanks again for your kind and encouraging words! Normal HTML code in the Wiki article edit

Hi,

Is it possible to include the normal HTML code into the Wiki article?

Say, there is a paper formatted as HTML and I don't want to re-write it, but just copy-paste.

But in this case it appears showing all the internal HTML tags but not formatted.

Or is it possible to include such things as video (file or youtube/googlevideo capture)?

Thank you, --Tagir 23:00, 23 October 2007 (CET).

Ah, I see you've already translated some more text parts, thanks! I was actually going to translate one more sentence today and the last one tomorrow. This weekend, I'll try to translate some parts from of new text you added.

You're welcome, Jose77 :) The article translation isn't very time-consuming for me.
I wish there were more people willing to work on the Chu Nom Wikipedia. CJKV 09:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
