this project is Persian wiki with standard Latin script. many Persian live in foreign countries(for example +7 million Iranian live out of Iran and most of them are in countries that use Latin script) also Persians in Uzbekistan (+40% of Uzbekistan population) use Uzbek Latin standard to write Persian, now Tajikistan Wikipedia use transcription for Latin-Cyrillic.

the project will use best standard Persian Latin script that called nowdabire (english: new-script)

There is a problem for now with this test, and I'm going to need a little time to try to sort through it. In the meantime, I'm going to ask you to stop creating new pages for this test.

There are several ways to handle multiple scripts for different languages. The most preferred way is to use a script converter within the project (so that, for example, a page on Persian Wikipedia would simply appear in a Latin transcription). Have you tried at all to gain support within the Persian Wikipedia community for the use of a script converter? After all, if that is actually an acceptable approach, it would make the entire contents of Persian Wikipedia available in latin script almost immediately—much faster than you could create it from a zero baseline.

The least preferred way to handle multiple scripts is to create an entirely new project. You would need to create a new Request for new languages at Meta. Understand that WMF's mission is to make information available to people, not merely to create new projects. Effectively, you'd need to show that there is a substantial population that speaks Persian, but only writes it in the Latin alphabet, and that the Persian Wikipedia community is unwilling to accommodate that population.

So far, I see no evidence ...

• ... of this big population in Uzbekistan.
• ... that the expatriate population (even in countries using Latin script) needs a wiki in Romanized Persian.
• ... that this type of approach is really used anywhere. (See translatewiki:Portal:fa, which does not specify pes-Latn or fa-Latn as an option at all.)
• ... that Nowdabire is in widespread use at all.

Separately, pes is a language code for a RTL language, so its pages always default to RTL. If we eventually allow this test to start, I'm not sure we can make pages in pes default to LTR. So I'd probably assign you a temporary code, with the assumption that any final approved project code would be "pes-latn" (or "fa-latn").

In the meantime, though, apply at Meta first, and let's see where that goes. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:35, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

@Ariyamehrbod: You can't create codes that way. It will have to be fa-Latn or pes-Latn, because "Latn" is the suffix code for the use of the Latin script. In any case I'll have to fix the request over there. StevenJ81 (talk) 23:23, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

I must tell you, Ariyamehrbod, that I do not think that your request will succeed. It is clear to me that you passionately see a need for a project like this. But I do not necessarily see evidence that the community of expatriate Persian speakers is looking for a solution like this. And it does not appear to me that Nowdabire is a widely used, standard Latin transcription system. It looks like a fairly new transcription system that has the potential to become a standardized system, but may not be so yet.

I really want to encourage you to consider creating this project on Wikia at Incubator Plus (see Incubator Plus on Wikia). There are fewer rules there, and you can create the project the way you want it. If your project grows there, and if the use of Nowdabire becomes more widespread, then there is a possibly some time in the future of moving the project back to Wikipedia. But for right now, I don't think you are likely to get the Language Committee's approval here. StevenJ81 (talk) 23:52, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
