We may use ⲡⲟⲩⲧⲱ for the village ابطو, I think that would be correcter.

There seems no genuine Coptic word for دسوق. We could take ⲡⲟⲩⲧⲱ `ⲙⲃⲉⲣⲓ. Or we take the Arabic name ⲧⲓⲥⲟⲩⲕ, or we translate the Arabic name. According to the Arabic wikipedia, the etymology of the town comes from the Arabic word for "overflowing tub", which was a reference to the low land on the shore of the Nile. ⲁϩⲙⲉⲧ (talk) 20:39, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

What could be a possible translation for that? --ⲡⲁⲣⲇⲁ (talk) 23:06, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think ⲡⲓϫⲱⲓ would be a good translation of دسوق. --ⲫⲁϯⲟⲩⲉⲣϣⲓ (talk) 01:36, 2 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
And if we take an Arabic name I think ϯⲥⲱⲕ or ⲧⲓⲥⲱⲕ (to avoid a confusion with a feminine definite article) is a better option. --ⲫⲁϯⲟⲩⲉⲣϣⲓ (talk) 12:24, 6 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Should we change it? --ⲫⲁϯⲟⲩⲉⲣϣⲓ (talk) 12:33, 26 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
You mean to ϯⲥⲱⲕ? Yeah we can I guess. ⲁϩⲙⲉⲧ (talk) 17:35, 28 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Do you prefer to use ϯⲥⲱⲕ or ⲧⲉⲥⲱⲕ (or even ⲇⲓⲥⲱⲕ/ⲇⲉⲥⲱⲕ) to avoid a confusion with ⲥⲱⲕ (although I know that ⲥⲱⲕ is masculine)? --ⲫⲁϯⲟⲩⲉⲣϣⲓ (talk) 23:21, 28 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would use ϯ for any "t+i", but I don't have very strong feelings about it. But I would not take ⲇ here. ⲁϩⲙⲉⲧ (talk) 21:53, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
