Hi Ahmed and others, I have a small note on Bohairic grammar and style. I've seen in quite a number of places ⲣⲉⲛ⸗ being used as a so-called possessed noun. This is common in Sahidic but non-productive and not grammatical in Bohairic, only appearing in the compound noun ϯⲣⲉⲛ⸗ "to name". So, ⲣⲉⲛϥ ⲡⲉ ḥrw p3 k3 in grammatical Bohairic should be ⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ḥrw p3 k3 (and so on). Is there a particular reason you chose you use this syntax? I haven't changes these but I've changed the Sahidic ⲥⲉⲥⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥ to its Bohairic form ⲥⲉⲥⲛⲁⲩ "62" and Arabic 'ⲓⲁⲛⲓ' to ⲉ̀ⲧⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ "which is to say, namely". - AB

I prefer synthetic to analytic constructs, that's the reason why I (I don't know the reason of others) try to use the compound form if there is any. I don't see a problem in using it. I just recently talked with some Copts who learn Coptic in their church or community, and asked them if they know forms like ⲣⲱⲕ, or only ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲟ, and they said the know (and use when they (try to) speak) both forms. They don't have a background in linguistics or Egyptology so this was important information for me, as they didn't have any intentions.

So, if you write something here, feel free to use the non-possessed form, nobody will change it to the possessed one, but please also don't change the possessed forms.

When it comes ⲓⲁⲛⲓ, and other Arabic short words, I don't know who started it in the Wikipedia. I remember I saw it when somebody (cannot remember who) wrote articles using it and I then thought I could use it too - especially after I was repeatedly hearing it when Copts try to speak Coptic, and I thought it is pretty natural anyway. But yeah, you can change it if you want. It is maybe an unnecessary loan from Arabic and we could try to keep Coptic pure(r). ⲁϩⲙⲉⲧ (talk) 23:22, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
