English: Watercolour painting by an unknown Burmese artist depicting 19th century Burmese life. Text: SAING Musical instruments. Text extracted from caption: 'The largest instrument is the "Saing-waing"; a circular frame of wood with a series of small drums suspended inside. A similar instrument is the "Chyee-waing," but in this the drums are of brass or bell metal, beautifully tuned. Between these two instruments is suspended a "Moung" or Gong. Under the frame and close to a bid drum is a Hni = flagolet. Beneath is a second "Hni" is a pair of cymbals "Yan-gwin", of brass; to the left is a "Ta-yaw" or violin with three silk strings played with a bow as in Europe; on the other side is the "Wah-lek-kote" = bamboo-clappers. Further on is a pair or metal cups or castanets "Than-gwin." Then a kind of solid triangle "Kyee-zee," shaped like a section of a Pagoda". Under these is the "Paruay" or flute, blown like a piccolo from the top. The two stringed instrument at the side of the "Mee-gyoung" i.e. the Alligator, with three strings, and the Soung or Harp with ten strings. The large instrument like a harmonium, is a "Wah-Pattala." Français : Peinture à l'eau d'un ou une artiste birman inconnu représentant la vie en Birmanie au xixe siècle. Texte : SAING Musical instruments (« SAING : instruments de musique » ). Text extracted from caption: 'The largest instrument is the "Saing-waing"; a circular frame of wood with a series of small drums suspended inside. Un des instruments ressemble au « Chyee-waing » mais dans ce dernier les tambours sont en laiton ou bien des cloches de métal, joliment accordées. Entre ces deux instruments est suspendu un « Moung » ou gong. Sous la structure et près du tambour de prière, on trouve un Hni = flagolet. En dessous un seconde « hni » se trouve une paire de cymbales « Yan-gwin », en laiton ; à la gauche se trouve un « Ta-yaw » ou violon avec trois cordes de soie que l'on joue avec un archet come en Europe ; de l'autre côt se trouve une « Wah-lek-kote » = claves de bambou. Plus loin se trouve une paire de coupe en métal ou castagnettes « Than-gwin ». Puis vient une paire de sorte de triangles pleins « Kyee-zee », ayant la forme d'une section de pagode. En dessous se trouve le « Paruay » ou flûte, dans laquelle on souffle d'en haut comme le piccolo. Les deux instruments à cordes sur le côté du « Mee-gyoung » (alligator) avec leurs trois cordes, et le Soung ou harpe avec dix cordes.
