Summary
DescriptionBearded Seal (Erignathus barbatus), Mid Yell - geograph.org.uk - 1121866.jpg
English: Bearded Seal (Erignathus barbatus), Mid Yell An exceptionally rare visitor to Britain, from the Arctic. This was the 11th individual recorded in Shetland (with no others since, at the time of writing in 2009). Normally, such rarities would not qualify as being typical of the square, but this individual became a minor celebrity, hauling out almost daily at the very head of Mid Yell Voe (and right beside a road) for almost two months.
