Summary

Description
English: This map shows the dialects of Assamese according to their political classification. Linguistically these are language varieties of the Kamarupi group of Bengali-Assamese group of the Indo-Aryan branch of Indo-European language family. The varieties have high mutually intelligibility and form a dialect continuum. Hence the Easternmost variety (Eastern Assamese) may not be considered as a dialect to the Westernmost variety (Western Goalpariya) in linguistic regards.
